A motorcycle rider carried out a gold theft in central Rayong, escaping with five gold necklaces weighing one baht each. The robbery took place at the Sin Ngie Foo 2 gold shop on Wat Khod Hin–Khao Phai Road in Nern Phra subdistrict, Mueang district, around 15:00 on October 28, 2025. Police have launched a manhunt and are reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding area to trace the suspect’s route.

According to shop owner “Hia Kaew,” the suspect entered the store alone after parking a Honda Wave motorcycle in front. He was described as about 30 years old, 165 centimetres tall, of medium build, wearing a black jacket, long black trousers and initially a white face mask. The man initially asked to buy gold bars, but when told none were available, he requested to see gold necklaces instead.

The suspect asked to view five necklaces, each weighing one baht, then pretended to call his wife and take photos of the gold items to “show her.” Moments later, he suddenly grabbed all five necklaces from the counter tray and ran out of the store. He mounted his parked motorcycle and sped away before staff could react.

Police from Mueang Rayong and Map Ta Phut stations responded swiftly after the shop alerted authorities. Forensic officers examined the scene and collected fingerprints and other potential evidence. CCTV cameras inside the shop captured clear images of the suspect’s face, build and movements, while footage from nearby streets is being analysed to determine his escape route.

Investigators are working to identify the thief and track his motorcycle registration number. Police believe he may have scouted the shop in advance and acted alone without accomplices. No injuries were reported, but the loss of five baht-weight gold necklaces amounts to significant financial damage.

Authorities have urged jewellery shops in the area to remain vigilant and to increase security measures. Officers are confident that CCTV footage and witness accounts will help lead to an arrest soon.

What happened to his white face mask?  Did it slip down when carrying out the robbery?
Many Thais have no brains.

Hehe.. perhaps you are correct.. The mask on his chin would have slowed the police identifying him longer if not forever. I would place a bet the man used his own bike also with the plates registered to him or someone in his family.
