To my surprise, the wife just said  แล้ว  is one of these words.

Is she correct?   Or has her inveterate  ยาดม  use muddled her thinking?

Do you mean falling tone instead of high tone? I don't think I've ever encountered that.

Good luck. 🙂

"Laeo" (already) has a falling tone in Lao/Issan. Maybe that's the reason. Is she from Isan?

How would you say

รอนานไหม
รอนานแค่ไหน

in ภาษาอีสาน ?

I realize speaking it as central Thai would likely be understood, but I'd prefer to make it authentically Isan.

This endeavor has become somewhat confusing to me, and here is why...

If you translate Thai to Lao on Google,

รอนานไหม

will come out as

ถ้าดนบ่

But my wife (from Isan) insists she would say it as

ถ่าโดนบ่

(note the ไม้เอก instead of ไม้ โท , and note the long โ on โดน)

And if you translate รอนานแค่ไหน on Google, it comes out as

ถ้าดนปานใด

But my wife insists she would say it as

ถ่าโดนปานใด๋

(aside from the two previously noted variations, please note the ไม้จัตวา on the last word)

What say you?
