LG fridge starter.

Featured Replies

My LG fridge freezer has stopped working. Keeps clicking every so often.

Before I go and buy a new one, I was wondering if anyone knows where on Samui I might be able to buy a new replacement fridge starter. I would rather spend a few hundred baht on changing that first to see if it fixes the problem before splashing out on a new one.

Plus, if I can get it working quickly, I might be able to save all my frozen food.

Is there an LG spares and repair shop here on the island? i thought there used to be one along from Sirisin, but the shop looked closed when I passed a few weeks ago.

TIA

Yes, in Bo Phut (Chaweng) between Makro and Sirisin – the latter also sells LG and could be helpful with advising repair or orderings spare parts...

Thanks KhunPer, but I already went there yesterday, and it seems he has closed down.. The shop is being refitted out for something else. Lost all the food stored in the fridge unfortunately.

It's too late now, but you might want to consider getting a stand alone freezer for incidents like this.

I did that, when my LG combined freezer-fridge went on strike. A small stand alone top-opened freezer for just under 5,000 baht – with 5-years warranty – saved all my frozen stuff, which was worth it, as it included lots of Aussie-beef tenderloin; now the cats have taken it over for their crab and fish storage. A small freezer can be in the back of many cars, so instant problem solution.

LG repaired my big freezer-fridger under their 10-year warranty – it was only close to 7 years old – so back to normal business. But I managed to buy a new Toshiba freezer-fridge meanwhile; however, it's still standing unpacked from factory – available with a discount – as it's not a door-in-door, I preferred to keep the old LG in service. I might replace it with same model, when it finally decides to mover to the eternal fridge-fields.

Mine only lasted 4 years before having the same problem.

Lg is bloody rubbish.

My LG is a 2008 model and has never given me any trouble. I'm surprised it lasted this long given the dirty power we get here in Samui.

i've ordered a starter from Lazada to see if I can fix it. If so, the GF can have it as I have now ordered a new Haier fridge freezer to replace it. If i can't fix it, Haier have said they will take it away.

Although a chinese brand, Haier seem to get good reviews, and are sold worldwide. I ordered it from their shop right next door to Makro. Price the same as Powerbuy and on Lazada. Delivery one week.

2008.  17 years old.

Just free up some of that old age pension money and buy a new one and be good for the next 17 years.

Save on electric too.  More energy efficient.

If it's from Sirisin – next to Makro – it's actually a good supplier of hardware for reasonable price.

And always look on the bright side of life: With an fridge as old as 2008, a new model might pay itself over a few years in saved electric use. My 2008 Samsung compressor fridge/freezer died after 9 years use, when I bought the LG inverter-type. It saved so much in electric that it paid for itself in less than 5 years – I was actually little sad that I haven't change the fridge earlier...:crying: – so, now I'm actually on positive fridge income...:clap2: – apart from the extra new unused fridge in my carport...:whistling:

khunPer.

Not from Sirisin. Haier actually have their own shop. Literally right next door to Makro as you exit onto the main road. Used to be the old Lucky Cow dairy place. Not a big shop. mainly fridges, air con units, microwaves, and a few other Haier products, but they have catalogues to order from. Only one staff. she doesn't speak english, but got by with Google translate.
