I got a message from the processing center telling me that they had mailed my new passport on 30th last month.   I purchased the return envelope from Thai Post, so all good there.

In that message they said that my old passport would be sent at a later date. Up to 2 weeks later. 2 different envelops..??

So.....I paid for the original...but what about the old passport. How will that be sent to me?

If doing from Thailand, ignore that as that's for US done passports.

The embassy or consulate will send you both the cancelled old and new passports in the same Thai Post mailer.

I was told the same thing when I got my new passport here in the USA.  It turned out I did get the old passport in the same mailer with the new passport.  Same same if done from Thailand?  My guess is yes since a single mailer seems to be the standard way the new passports are processed.

How much time elapsed between the first email notifying that the State Department had received your passport and was processing it and the time they sent the email advising it had been mailed?

 

I ask because just today I received the email advising that mine had been received and was under process.

From Thailand? It was very fast. A few years ago mine was about two week turnaround and maybe few days less.

As it turned out, the interval between the two emails was about 12 hours.

I got my new passport from the Embassy here last week. Both old and new came in the same mailing.

I mailed all they requested on the the 18th of Oct. to the Embassy here,,, returned on the 7th of Nov.  Just over 3 weeks total....
