What are some overlooked or good value areas to live in 2025?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for neighborhoods in BKK, where you might still find a monthly apartment for like 15.000 THB tops with no long contracts, so that means, probably no condos. Somewhere I can take a thaifriendly girl on a date and have something to do and an apartment which is not completely embarassing.

On Nut seems to have grown to something very different than 20 years ago, but it's also full of highrise condos, are there still cheap apartments there? Phra Kanong is the new Ekamai? Is Ekamai the new Thonglor? What about Ari?

Best if its not too far from Railway Link (so probably not west of the river), as I want to go ride my roadbike on the Skylane.

Any on the ground local info, be as specific as possible if you can, would be greatly appreciated. Some old timers or new arrivals for sure know better than Reddit.

Just have to keep looking till you find something that fits your lifestyle & budget.   Wouldn't be to concerned about areas, as there are bargains everywhere.   Daughter got a nice condo, in Sathorn area, close to work and all things she needs & wants.  Great location, 70m² and only 15k THB.

Apparently it's a renter's market, according to another anti Thai thread :coffee1:

Ari area is nice, on East side of the river.   Though I prefer the west side of the river.  I'd be looking along the MRT / Blue Line station or Silom BTS / dark Green line, but on West side of river.

Any place both nice and cheap will be in the outlying districts. I enjoyed Thonburi which is even more accessible now with the newer lines.

Talat Phlu is nice.

The Victory Monument area. Well-connected with a BTS station right there and the Airport link a 5 min. motosai ride away. Tons of restaurants, bars and two decent malls.

15k should get you a nice 1-bedroom.

I always liked that area. Good location

Numerous spacious condos on blue line for <15k. Get off the MRT and walk the areas. Pretty far from Skyline but all connected

Funny, I see tourists high season, but expats don't live up here. It's got everything it's just a Thai experience. 15 mins from asoke

555 no one is going to give up their neighborhood to a stranger on a public forum 🤣

My suggestion would be first to decide if you need all the farang BS on Sukhumvit. If so, you're stuck on BTS. Look on those major stations. If you can live more local than MRT is viable. Get off at hate to say it but each stop and have a look.

Having said all that. You're looking for a short term rental to bring a prostitute. At 15k on a monthly and in high season not easy.

Huai Kwang on MRT. Nana, phra kanong, on nut bts.

Older area in Silom or Sathorn possible although Sathorn maybe to local vibe for you

I'd look right around Nana bc that's where it's all going on. If you are living in say on nut and need to taxi there from Nana or Asoke at night that's usually a problem. If you are trying to get a bird to do outcall if you're out past on nut that may be a problem.

As I recall there are a bunch of service apartment along Sukhumvit approximately past ekamai on eastward on BTS. You need to walk it unfortunately

Ploen chit is too far west and generally speaking out of that budget plus no apartments directly on BTS line.

On nut, phra kanong and further out have cheaper stuff as Yagoda stated . I think V monument a long shot for short term flat.

Nana is really it for you pal imo

Take her on a date? You mean a shag right? If you're looking for an actual proper apartment that you would be proud to have a decent woman in That's not going to be what you've described. The money is fine it's the short rental the problem. .

In your op you pretty much know the score. Have a look
