A woman in Sri Racha, Chon Buri, narrowly escaped a suspected attack after being followed home by a man on a motorbike who was later seen lurking outside her house. The incident, which occurred around 08:00 on November 4, left the 32-year-old department store worker shaken and prompted warnings for residents to remain vigilant.

The woman, identified as Suthanya Manaowan, was returning home after dropping her mother at work when she realised a man on a motorcycle appeared to be following her. After stopping to buy grilled chicken, she rode home unaware that the suspect continued to trail behind. Moments later, while she was eating and playing with her cat, she saw the man in a red shirt peering through her window.

“I asked, ‘Who’s standing there?’ and went to look. He ran into the front yard,” Suthanya said. Panicked, she shouted for her boyfriend, 33-year-old Kongsak Phaetsriwarothai, who had been asleep in another room. The suspect fled on his motorcycle, with Kongsak making a grab and then giving chase through central Sri Racha for nearly ten kilometres. Despite the pursuit, the man managed to escape after riding recklessly through traffic.

CCTV footage later showed the suspect clearly. He was described as stocky, wearing a full-face white helmet, a red long-sleeved shirt with white and black accents, three-quarter shorts and flip-flops. He was riding a blue Honda Wave motorcycle with no licence plates. Police believe the suspect could be a foreign national and are reviewing the footage to identify him.

Suthanya expressed concern that the man’s intentions went beyond theft. “He waits for women to be alone, follows them home, and watches them. If no one is around, he could easily break in and assault someone,” she said. She also noted that many women feel vulnerable when alone at home, often dressed casually and unaware of being watched.

The couple plans to file a report with Laem Chabang Police Station and has urged others in the community to take precautions. “Please lock your doors and gates properly. This can happen to anyone,” Suthanya warned. Local authorities are expected to increase surveillance in the area while investigators work to track down the suspect.

Perhaps that's why they suspect it, not taking into account the fact that he might have been hiding tattoos or other distinguishing features.  It's difficult to imagine that a foreigner would be comfortable enough in a Thai neighbourhood to stalk a woman and try to enter her home.

All crimes are committed by foreigners until proved not.
