‘Your Country Is Becoming More Arab’

Featured Replies

" In his second term, Trump and his deputies have converted federal agencies into investment arms that direct capital to industries and companies that hew to Trump’s strategic and political vision. As in Saudi Arabia, some of those industries and companies have ties to the leader’s family or allies. And Trump has made arrangements that would, if implemented, give him control of enormous investment portfolios that might one day rival sovereign wealth funds like Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, known by the acronym PIF."

"Your country is becoming more Arab" is just another way of saying your government is becoming much more corrupt. Families getting rich from their personal governmental connections has long been a way of in the developing world. No where is entirely immune from it. But a big part of the reason developed nations got to be developed is because that sort of thing was increasingly frowned upon and to a large extent criminalized. Not anymore. Donald Trump Jr. kicked off the conference described here. It's widely reported how the Trump family is making massive profits from their connections. This is the kind of activity Americans once felt superior to. Many still do. Maybe most. But those in charge of the executive branch clearly don't.

No different than any other President.

Please share with us the Presidents who earned 100's of millions if not billions from foreign governments while they were in office.

Trump is the most corrupt president in American history and the magas either deny it, ignore it, or weirdly like it.

If one replaces one word in this, it would still be true...

"Your country is becoming more Arab-(African)" is just another way of saying your government is becoming much more corrupt.

And then Obama came along. Might not have been as effective...

OPINIONOPINION,

Opinion|Donald Trump

The first honest American president

Trump’s shameless corruption is not a deviation from American history but its fulfilment.

Every era of American government has had its scandal. Trump’s innovation is to make scandal itself a governing philosophy. Although it is tempting to see the Trump regime’s corruption – its open profiteering, its use of the state as an instrument of vengeance and self-enrichment – as a perversion of American democracy, the truth is more unsettling: it’s a mirror. The difference between Trump’s era and those before it is not the presence of corruption, but its visibility and the nation’s collective incapacity to feel scandalised by it.

And.....

Sep 27, 2568 BE“People say, well, if it were really corrupt, it would be hidden. It's a false assumption, but many people have it. It's a new theory of scandal ..

Finally, the US got an honest President... and effective...

You should have said...".in their first year in office". We will have to wait for end of his term to see the full results.
