A vehicle collided with a herd of buffalo at around 04:25 on 9 November 2025, on the Uthai Thani–Thanamoioi Road in Moo 6, Ban Hat Thanon, Mueang district, Uthai Thani province. The crash resulted in five buffalo deaths and injuries to two others. The driver escaped with minor injuries and two following vehicles were also damaged in the chain collision.

Emergency services, including Phra Chanok Uthai Thani rescue teams, arrived promptly at the scene. They found three damaged vehicles with license plates from Nakhon Nayok, Uthai Thani and Bangkok. Several buffalo were found dead alongside the road, while a pickup driver had lost control, hit roadside barriers and overturned into a water ditch.

Local village chief, Mr. Tom, reported that the herd consisted of seven buffalo standing on the road, which had  poor lighting, as the streetlights had failed. The first vehicle collided with the herd, and the two following cars crashed as a result. Authorities have not yet identified the owner of the herd and no one has come forward to claim responsibility.

Rescue officials confirmed that five buffalo were dead and two were injured. The injured animals were transported for treatment using a tow truck. The incident has raised safety concerns about stray livestock on main roads, particularly during poorly lit hours, and the need for preventive measures to avoid future collisions.

Although their idea of safety concerns for free roaming livestock on roadways is valid. They neglect that It was not a poorly lit road at all due to no lighting. being present.

In fact the lighting had failed. The driver should sue the company of government office that is responsible for maintaining the road lighting actually works. I would bet any research would uncover the lighting problem had existed for some time. Leading the responsibility  to lay on the office that maintains this.
