The China That the World Sees Is Not the One I Live In

Featured Replies

For much of my life that directive had felt superfluous. China’s economy boomed, and we were proud of our country.
That pride is harder for many of us to summon today. Behind the orderliness of everyday life, a quiet desperation simmers. On social media and in private conversations, there is a common refrain: worry over joblessness, wage cuts and making ends meet

This is the kind of situation where the society seems basically stable and subdued until suddenly it isn't because the leadership is deeply out of touch with the citizenry.

Buy a lot of beef, fruit and coffee for 2,000 bucks, enough left over for a pair of Havaiianas no doubt. Did you even have a point or was it a springboard setting up for the insult? Liberals🤣

This $2,000 cheque from the REVENUE DERIVED FROM TRUMPS TARIFFS seems to have scrambled your brain joseph. Stop parotting the nonsensical lefty narrative that was rushed out when the tariff news 1st broke, as you see it has been discreditted in every way.

Which cheque?

If anyone in this thread has a scrambled brain, then it's you. There hasn't been a cheque, and Bessent has made clear already, there never will be a cheque. So please wake up instead of posting that sh!it again every day

All these Americans spelling "check" as "cheque". Maybe they are not American after all.

Do the math and see for yourself how much 2000-- p.p. actually cost. Now have a look how much Trump claims the tariffs made the US. Still think you'll get a check?

BTW what did you buy from your 5000-- Dodge check?

This describes every insecure worker in every country that doesn't have control of their finances, living beyond their means and are dependent on others, employers, govt hand outs.  Oh well ... :coffee1:

Since you're an expert on things MAGA, and possibly even have a degree from Trump U, perhaps you can explain why imposing tariffs does not raise prices for the US Consumer, as your messiah has told us ad nauseum, but CUTTING tariffs on beef, bananas and coffee LOWERS consumer prices.

Is that kind of like the previous messiah and his loaves of bread and fish miracle?

I'm also sensing a little Rube Goldberg here.....

Let me see if I get this right. Trump imposes tariffs, which the US importer pays into the Treasury. The importer then jacks up the price for the end user to recapture the tariff cost. Trump then takes $2000 from the tariff take and gives it back to the end user consumers, who had to pay more for what they bought because of the tariffs.

Wouldn't it be more efficient just to not impose the tariffs in the first place, and let customers pay the old price before the tariff loop of importer-to-Treasury-to-Trump's checks-to-consumer?

And you said that is China's money. So you think China has paid the tariffs.
