Bangkok authorities have partnered with 15 government agencies to strengthen integrated efforts to prevent, treat and rehabilitate drug users, aiming to build long-term community safety. The cooperation was formalised at a signing ceremony attended by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Sarum. Officials say the agreement is designed to accelerate coordinated action to reduce drug use and improve rehabilitation outcomes across the capital.

The event took place at the Prince Grand Ballroom, 11th floor, Prince Palace Hotel in Pom Prap Sattru Phai district. During the ceremony, Bangkok Permanent Secretary Narong Ruangsri signed the memorandum of cooperation on behalf of the city. He was joined by Dr Duangporn Pinjeesekikul, Director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department, along with ministers, permanent secretaries, police representatives and senior officials from various ministries.

The initiative, titled “United in Faith and Determination: Integrated Drug Problem Solving – Quick Big Win,” focuses on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation within a one-year timeframe. Under the agreement, Bangkok and the partnering agencies aim to create structurally resilient communities capable of responding swiftly to drug-related issues. Authorities emphasise that the approach relies on close coordination between healthcare, law enforcement, local administrations, and community mechanisms.

A key component of the project includes building strong communities and establishing drug-free villages using the “Drug Alms Offering” model, which encourages residents to confidentially report drug activity. The process will integrate searching, screening and comprehensive treatment for drug users, followed by community-driven rehabilitation. Officials believe this will deliver rapid, measurable results while reducing the number of drug users and improving treatment systems nationwide.

The collaboration also seeks to improve long-term monitoring and aftercare, ensuring individuals who complete treatment are supported throughout recovery, reported Naewna. Officials expect the integrated model to provide a sustainable framework for drug rehabilitation and serve as a reference for nationwide expansion. The initiative forms part of a wider government push to address drug-related challenges across the country through stronger inter-agency partnerships.
