A 29-year-old woman is facing charges related to human trafficking after allegedly forcing her 12-year-old daughter to work at a massage parlour in Tokyo. Authorities in Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan are collaborating following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Criminal Court. The woman could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The case emerged in mid-September when the daughter sought help from the Tokyo Regional Immigration Services Bureau. She reported being left by her mother at a Tokyo massage parlour in June, where she endured harsh working conditions and was coerced into providing sexual services for about a month. The Japanese police have already arrested the parlour's owner, Masayuki Hosono, 51, and a Thai employee named Kritayaporn for various violations.

The girl is now in protective care in Japan. Her mother was apprehended on November 8 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, for breaching local immigration and employment laws. She is detained by Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency and is expected to be extradited to Japan. If extradition is delayed, she will return to Thailand to face charges which include human trafficking and child exploitation.

Thailand's National Police Chief, Pol Gen Kittharath Punpetch, has directed authorities to collaborate with Japan and Taiwan to ensure evidence-sharing and the child's welfare. A task force comprising the Royal Thai Police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Interpol has been set up to investigate trafficking networks. The girl's grandmother sought assistance from the Pavena Foundation, with assurances from the chairwoman, Pavena Hongsakula, regarding the child's safety coordinated by Thai police and international agencies, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • A woman is accused of forcing her daughter to work in a massage parlour in Tokyo, leading to her arrest.
  • The girl, now in protective care, revealed her ordeal, sparking investigations across three countries.
  • Authorities are coordinating international efforts to prosecute and prevent similar trafficking cases.

Authorities are preparing for the arrival of a Thai woman facing severe charges related to child prostitution. The 29-year-old, arrested in Taiwan, will be escorted back to Thailand on Tuesday, arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Thai Airways flight TG633 at 5pm. She is accused of forcing her 12-year-old daughter into prostitution at a Tokyo massage parlour earlier this year.

An arrest warrant for the woman was issued last month amid allegations of procuring her minor child for prostitution and engaging in human trafficking. These charges carry potential penalties, including a prison term of up to 20 years and fines reaching 2 million Thai baht. The woman allegedly fled to Taiwan soon after compelling her daughter into the illegal work.

The situation has prompted serious concerns among child protection agencies and law enforcement authorities. Experts in child welfare highlight the critical need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents and safeguard vulnerable children. The Thai authorities are pressured to handle the case with diligence and ensure justice for the young victim.

Experts and officials are closely monitoring developments as the case progresses through the Thai judicial system. Authorities will likely take further steps to assist and protect the child involved, aiming to provide her with the necessary support and rehabilitation. The case serves as a wake-up call concerning ongoing challenges in human trafficking and child exploitation.

Key Takeaways:

  • A Thai woman is being returned from Taiwan to face charges of child prostitution.
  • She allegedly forced her daughter to work in a Tokyo parlour and face up to 20 years in prison.
  • The case highlights ongoing issues in child protection and the fight against human trafficking.

Should be deported to Japan where the offence occurred and jailed there.

The concerning part is the Japanese Johns who paid for the service. More investigation is needed as there seems to be a market for this service.

Unfortunately this is still going on in many countries, especially the poorer ones. Personally , never seen or heard anything of these horrific crimes against children , I suppose they act in very secret circles . I know in Sihanoukville there was a building/ motel where I was told by my moto taxi that children worked there, catering to Chinese. It must be common in Cambodia as there are signs in all the hotels etc about reporting it.

There needs to be a vast crackdown on this exploitation.
