The Outrageous False Equivalences That Prop Up President Trump

Featured Replies

While President Trump certainly has supporters who adore him and feel no need to justify that, he survives — and too often prospers — with the crucial help of voters who basically regard him as the lesser of evils.

They tell themselves something like this: Trump has shortcomings, but those are merely mirrors of the corruption and craziness on the other side. Almost any accusation leveled at him is lodged as easily — and often more righteously — against his opponents. In a government of bad apples, he’s no mealier than the rest.

I watched a video of an experiment on half a doxen Trump supporters.

They generated deep fakes of Trump admitting corruption and having sex with minors.

His supporters excused the former by saying all politicians were corrupted and to the second they still supported him saying well he's a man, they all have these urges.

Any leader would have shortcomings.

Also, to undo damage done by a previous administration (or plural) is a monumental task and may take years and years to undo.

This was happening during the entire Biden presidency. Any criticism of old Joe would be met with "b-b-but Trump!" as a way to avoid answering uncomfortable questions or facts.

And I say that as someone who would have preferred a different Republican candidate in 2024. But considering the Dem choice, I would say any of the was a better alternative to the Word Salad Queen.

But this isn't a critique of but...but...but per se... It's about putting other presidents in the same league as Trump when it comes to sheer awfulness.

Have to remeber  that when this disgraceful grifting conman goes,no one will ever think of it as  an elder statesman. It will just be remebrered as an evil conniving scumbag.

Come on, lefties! Let's be fair.

You've already forgotten about the Obama Towers in Tehran, Isfahan and Tabriz? Sure, it was Malia and Sasha's real estate business, but dad never divested his ownership in the Obama Company.

And when Venezuela "gifted" Obama that Airbus A380 for his library and private use?

You also seem to have forgotten when David Plouffe, Obama's Campaign Manager, flew to Beijing to hand detailed internal polling data to an MSS agent, who then had China's Internet Research Agency hit voters in key swing States with made up stories of Trump's less than "live for 200 years" best health ever and nobody has ever seen anyone so healthy.

Oh, and let's not forget when Obama took boxes of highly classified data, including documents with the names of CIA clandestine assets in Iran and China, to his home in Georgetown, claiming that he used a Jedi Mind Trick to declassify them....at least the ones the Trump FBI didn't plant.

You want to have some fun? Tell a "Christian Nationalist" that Trump schtupped a 12 year old Ivanka lookalike in Moscow, which is on film. They will tell you, "Well, Lot made babies with his daughters, and Mary was only 14 when God made her pregnant".

A cult is a cult is a cult. Look up the rantings of any member of any cult in old news reports or documentaries---whether Jim Jones or David Koresh or any of the Doomsday Cults that gather on some date when the world is supposed to end---and they sound exactly like MAGAs. Even this week, as death threats pour in to Mark Kelly and Elisa Slotkin and Jason Crow, you'll be reminded of fanatical jihadis threatening Salman Rushdi, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, killing Theo van Gogh, etc.

A cult is a cult is a cult.
