On Wednesday, a tragic collision between a car and a lorry in Lạng Sơn Province resulted in four fatalities and two injuries. The accident occurred at 1:30 PM at Km 41 of National Highway 1A when a seven-seat Avanza collided head-on with a truck. The critically injured victims were rushed to Chi Lăng Regional Medical Centre for treatment.

The Avanza, carrying six passengers, was severely damaged with the frontal area completely crushed. Traffic on National Highway 1A experienced significant disruption, with congestion stretching nearly 10 kilometers. Authorities responded swiftly, directing traffic to the old National Highway 1A and initiating an investigation into the accident's cause.

By 5 PM, local officials managed to reopen one lane to ease traffic, allowing vehicles to pass slowly under supervision. Provincial leaders, including Lạng Sơn officials, visited the crash site to oversee response efforts and provide assistance to the victims' families.

In response to the incident, the Traffic Safety Committee and provincial authorities extended financial support to the affected families. Each deceased victim’s family received VNĐ5 million (US$190) and VNĐ2 million for those injured, reported Vietnam News.

Key Takeaways

  • The accident resulted in four deaths and two critical injuries.
  • Immediate traffic and emergency response helped reopen a lane by evening.
  • Financial aid was provided to the victims' families by local authorities.
