I been thinking of concocting my own salve (or balm) for breathing easier - opening nasal passages.

here are some of the ingredients on my list: eucalyptus oil, menthol, camphor, lavender oil, rosemary oil, cinnamin oil.cajuput oil(?), clove oil, mint oil. I haven't started looking to source these items, so I don't know their availability in Chaing Rai, where I live - though there is a lab supply shop I plan to check - which whould have some of the ingredients.

I have a list of ingredients, but I think I could use a soft wax as a base. I skipped chemistry class, so I'm looking for someone who might be of assistance.

When Brits hear the word 'chemist' they might think of a pharmacist, and that might be ok, but I think anyone with a basic knowledge of chemistry might be helpful.

I'm also looking for ingredients for another home-made item that would ease drowsiness, such as hops tea.

Tiger Balm has some of those ingredients in it and have seen Thais use it for that purpose. If you find it is not sufficient then you could use it as a base and add the additional ingredients.

Why don't you PM chemist. Think that he should be able to give you some good info. BTW, that is not a tounge in cheek reply.
