In collaboration with ThaiHealth and MovED, the ministry discussed the draft law at a recent forum. Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthapon Naowarat emphasized the bill's alignment with both the country's constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the next step being Cabinet review. The forum highlighted research from the Urban Studies Institute Foundation and Thammasat University. The study identified homeless individuals as facing the highest level of discrimination due to stereotypes. Additionally, it revealed that the LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities experience regular unfair treatment, and migrant workers are often seen solely as laborers without equal rights. ThaiHealth manager Pongthep Wongwatcharapaiboon expressed optimism that the bill could establish an independent body to address these issues. Dr. Sunthon Sunthonchart from MovED emphasized the need for individual efforts and diverse acceptance to reduce societal bias. Participants at the forum showed strong support, with Fair Party list-MP Kannavee Suebsang urging future administrations to continue pushing the legislation forward. MP Tunyawaj Kamolwongwat from the People’s Party called discrimination a human rights violation, likening the bill to the Gender Equality Act. He suggested that amendments to Justice Ministry laws could enable provincial offices to tackle discrimination issues, rather than relying solely on agencies in Bangkok, reported The Thaiger. December 2, 2025Dec 2 Soooooo, will they now not discriminate against foreign men married to Thai women and extend the same immigration rules and benefits, like citizenship after three years of marriage, to foreign men as they do for foreign women married to Thai men? Let me guess. Not just "No," but "**** no!" Didn't think so. So honestly this is just nonsense.
