A 36-year-old woman was found dead in a bathroom in Udon Thani on 4 December 2025 after her mother allegedly stabbed her in the neck during a drug- and alcohol-fuelled dispute. Police from Nong Saeng Police Station responded at 11.30 to the house in Saeng Sawang, Nong Saeng district, where villagers had gathered in shock. Officers discovered the body of Kitiya, known as “Beer”, lying naked in a pool of blood with a pink towel covering her, next to a plastic bucket and basin.

A severe stab wound was found on the right side of her neck and a blood-stained knife about one foot long was recovered outside the bathroom. The suspect, her mother, 52-year-old Janphen, was found intoxicated, sitting on the ground holding her ID card while waiting to surrender. She admitted at the scene that she had stabbed her daughter.

Police detained Janphen and seized the knife before taking her to the station for questioning. She told investigators she lived in the house with her 93-year-old mother and the victim. Both she and her daughter regularly used methamphetamine and she claimed she had previously asked police to arrest her daughter to stop her drug use.

According to her statement, the victim had separated from three former husbands and had three daughters who were now living with their fathers and grandmothers. The victim allegedly pressured her to take methamphetamine and tensions escalated when the daughter began a relationship with a man involved in drug trafficking. Janphen said she had urged her daughter to leave him, fearing he had no future and would bring harm.

Four days earlier, the pair had been drinking together when the victim reportedly hit her mother with a chair and swore at her for interfering in her relationship. The night before the killing, the victim brought her boyfriend to sleep on the second floor, further fuelling the conflict. That morning, after more drinking, the two argued again as the daughter prepared to shower.

Janphen told police she became enraged, retrieved a sharp knife from the kitchen, held her daughter’s head down and stabbed her in the neck in the downstairs bathroom. She said, “If my daughter’s spirit can hear me, I want to say that I accept all the blame,” adding that she regretted killing the child she had carried and raised. The victim’s aunt, who lives next door, said the pair frequently fought when drunk but were affectionate when sober.

Amarin reported that the aunt said Janphen arrived at her house crying and confessed, saying, “I’ve killed Beer,” prompting her to call local residents for help. Authorities are now preparing charges while relatives arrange care for the 93-year-old grandmother. Police will continue their investigation and process evidence as the case proceeds through the legal system.
