A homeless man seeking shelter by sleeping beneath a parked bus was killed early on 4 December 2025 when the driver unknowingly moved the vehicle. The incident occurred in a parking area of a restaurant on Sukhumvit Road in Pak Nam, opposite the Royal Naval Academy in Samut Prakan. Police and rescue workers arrived to find the victim dead at the scene with severe head injuries.

 

Officers from Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station found the man, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, wearing only trousers and without any identification documents. He was lying on his side with fatal head trauma and traces of brain matter were visible on the ground and on the rear-left tyre of the staff shuttle bus. The bus had been parked overnight before the driver arrived to begin morning operations.

 

According to the bus driver, he had started the engine at around 06.00 in preparation for picking up workers. At approximately 06.30, he began moving the vehicle and felt a jolt similar to running over a piece of wood. When he stopped to inspect, he discovered that the bus had run over the man, who had apparently been sleeping beneath the rear section and was not visible from the driver’s position. The driver said he did not notice anyone under the vehicle when approaching it.

 

Amarin reported that police documented the scene and photographed the area for evidence. The victim’s body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to help confirm his identity and confirm the cause of death. The driver has been brought in for further questioning at the police station as part of the legal process.
