Trump Admin Doubly Disses Black Americans

Trump Admin Removes MLK Day, Juneteenth From National Parks Fee-Free Days

The Trump administration has dropped Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the fee-free days at National Parks for 2026.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) recently announced its "resident-only patriotic fee-free days" for 2026, and missing from the list were MLK Day, which has been a National Park fee-free day since 2018, and Juneteenth, which was introduced as a fee-free day in 2024.

In place of these days commemorating American history, civil rights and equality, the Trump administration has instead opted to celebrate additional former presidents' birthdays and Flag Day, which is also President Donald Trump's birthday.

To be clear, the National Park Service's announcement of the new free holiday schedule said this in the list:

Flag Day/President Trump's Birthday.

So now black Americans can see that MLK Birthday Holiday, one in which Federal workers get the day off, has been replaced by a holiday observed expressly for Donald Trump's birthday. It's like he want to go out of his way to antagonize the black community. What's more, it's always been a policy of the US not to celebrate a sitting President or bestow honors on him. That kind of thing used to be the preserve of third world countries. What we are seeing now is the bananafication of the American republic.

Way to go. White folk got to tell the Black folk what to be angry about.

The good news keeps coming, please share more success stories.

How come they don't let people in for free on Kwanzaa?

Please give us the crime each person committed. Reference to statues would be nice to show that you actually thought about the matter before you spewed.

Alternatively you won't answer the question or just respond with a flame thereby demonstrating to the membership that you, a new member here, just pukes out nonsense without any factual basis whatsoever

I like the way he even he changed his voice a little bit on that one. I love the way they do that, walk into a bunch of black people that may be educated philologists and start talking like some ghetto Thug

As a joke, that would have worked if it was made when MLK and Juneteenth were first included on the free entry lest. But since this was about them being cut from the list, it's just dumb.

Major crime in the eyes of the Socialists.

MLK believed people should be judged not on their colour of their skin but on the content of their character. Something I entirely agree with.

Since the left have largely abandoned such a concept for things like racist DEI mandates, I see no harm in removing the special day until the left see fit to embrace the concepts the great man stood for once again.

You think that the way to honor MLK's sentiments is to remove his birthday from the list? Maybe the Trump administration should honor those sentiments even more by trashing his gravesite.

No, that's a strawman and not a very good one if I may say so.😄

I am saying that since the left have abandoned MLK's principles it seems a bit hypocritical for them to express faux outrage when someone removes the special day.

But you already knew that.

It's a pity that your joke doesn't work to support that sentiment. Now maybe if you had made a joke like "Maybe white liberals should pay double in order to let black people in for free", that would be the kind of joke that at least supported what you were trying to get at. It would have been a stupid joke, but at least it would have made sense in that context.

Another right wing mindreader.

It wasn't a joke.

I was deadly serious. If you don't believe in his principles why are you outraged by the removal of the day?

Well, I kind of doubt that Martin Luther King would agree with the common right wing belief that discrimination against black people no longer exists in a serious way in the USA.

But since we can't be sure of that, what we can be sure of is that it's such an important holiday that federal workers get a day off.

And replacing that with Trump's birthday? This is the kind of stuff that until Trump came along would have been abhorrent along pretty much the entire political spectrum.
