Authorities in Chonburi have detained 11 foreign workers following a raid on a Chinese restaurant in Soi Thonglang, Khlong Tamru, after receiving complaints about illegal employment. The operation, carried out on 8 December 2025, immediately led to the workers being taken into custody and handed over to investigators at Mueang Chonburi Police Station. Officials confirmed that all individuals were working without permits or beyond the scope allowed by law, prompting swift legal action.

The inspection team was led by Khajornsak Janthong, an operational labour specialist acting on orders from Phukorn Tosingkorn, the Chonburi Provincial Employment Officer. The group included officers from the Chonburi Labour Office, Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Chonburi, the Mueang Chonburi District Office, and Khlong Tamru Municipality. Their visit followed formal complaints alleging the presence of undocumented migrant workers at the restaurant.

Officials found a total of 11 workers, comprising four Chinese nationals and seven Myanmar nationals, the latter including one man and six women. All were found in violation of Section 8 and the penalty provisions of Section 101 of the Foreign Workers Management Emergency Decree B.E. 2560 and its amendments. The violations related to working without valid permits or performing work not authorised under their legal status.

Police investigators immediately took the workers into custody, beginning legal proceedings for breaches of the decree. Authorities also filed a complaint against one employer suspected of hiring the workers illegally. The employer is now required to report to investigators to face charges for unlawful employment and failing to comply with labour protection regulations.

Officials stated that enforcement measures will continue to ensure compliance with labour laws and protect both legal workers and employers who meet regulatory standards. The case highlights the ongoing efforts by Chonburi authorities to respond promptly to complaints and maintain oversight of foreign labour practices. Further follow-up will focus on the employer’s legal process and any resulting penalties under Thai law.

555!

Someone didn't like the competition and dropped a dime.

A bit early in the month for this sort of raid.  The employers usually wait till just before payday before shopping their employees.
