AXA Health Insurance - Experiences?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

after checking a few insurance companies/plans, I am thinking of applying to AXA SwitchCare plan for my Thai wife and daughter. They seem to offer a good coverage, however I don't know this company and my previous personal experience with Thai insurers is not very pleasant. For this reason, I decided I will apply through a broker, hoping this will help to deal with the insurer if/when the time will come.

I don't want to leave my wife and daughter lwith the only option of public hospitals, now that I can afford to pay for a private insurance.

Anyone with experience with AXA? I am especially worried of having troubles in case of major claims. What are your experiences? Is it worth?

Thanks in advance

I had AXA Thailand Health Insurance for a number of years, mine was worldwide (excl USA), my wife had Thailand only.  Both of us claimed on the policies without any significant issues.  In my case an initial claim for hospitalisation after a TIA event followed by a triple CABG at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.  All payments were settled directly with the hospital, mine totalling well over THB1.5m.  Based on my experience I'd recommend them, I bought from the AXA office on Sukhumvit in Pattaya who were very helpful at all times.

With AXA Thailand, you and your broker should not have problems getting them to honor the terms and conditions of the policy they issue. This is both the least and the most that can be expected of an insurer.

Just make sure that your wife and daughter have made full disclosure of their medical history and current status. It is best to submit copies of all medical records at the time of application for coverage even though insurers don't require it. It's better to have a policy with an exclusion for a pre-existing condition than to have a policy voided from inception due to non-disclosure of something when making a claim for something unrelated.
