In two separate knife attacks on December 14 in Phuket, a man and a woman sustained injuries. The incidents occurred early in the morning, with the first attack taking place around 3am near Coral Beach Bridge in Patong. A Myanmar national, 21-year-old Maung Maung Aye, was stabbed while sitting with friends and was later admitted to Patong Hospital with a wound to his rib cage.

The police, alerted by hospital staff, are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers. Maung Maung Aye was able to provide a statement, but the suspects, who fled on motorcycles, remain unidentified. This incident had no reported theft or additional damage.

Approximately 90 minutes later, another stabbing took place at a Tops Supermarket in Phuket Town. The victim, 26-year-old Waranya, suffered multiple stab wounds to the back and neck. She was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital, and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Choktawee, was arrested at the scene.

Choktawee, who is reported to have a mental illness, attacked Waranya within the store. Bystanders intervened, allowing police to quickly detain the suspect and seize the weapon. The authorities stated that investigations for both stabbings are actively ongoing.

Additionally, police are searching for a man involved in another stabbing outside a nightclub in Choeng Talay. This suspect, described as a large foreigner, allegedly attacked a British national and remains at large, reported The Thaiger.
