The Royal Thai Navy has detained 19 foreign nationals during a pre-dawn operation along the Chanthaburi border, disrupting suspected transnational crime and cyber scam activity. The arrests were made at 04.30 on 17 December 2025, with all individuals found to have entered Thailand illegally. Authorities said the operation prevented a suspected attempt to cross into Cambodia.

The action was confirmed by Rear Admiral Parat Rattanachaiphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy. He said the Chanthaburi Border Protection Command (CBPC) carried out proactive measures to block transnational criminal networks operating along the frontier. The operation was led by the Chanthaburi Marine Task Force (Chor Kor Tor Nor Yor 2) in coordination with local and national security agencies.

The task force operated under the direction of Captain Weerachet Khayantham, head of tactical control for Chor Kor Tor Nor Yor 2, with operational command by Lieutenant Thanongsak Wongwilai, commander of Marine Ranger Company 523 based at Ban Suan Som. Forces integrated with Chanthaburi Immigration officers, police from Saton Police Station, Internal Security Operations Command Region 1, Sub-Division 3 and local community leaders. The coordinated deployment reflected an intensified security posture along key border routes.

The suspects were apprehended at a watermelon farm behind Operational Base 6. Authorities identified 18 Chinese nationals and one Myanmar national, none of whom possessed valid travel documents permitting entry into the Kingdom of Thailand. Preliminary questioning indicated they were attempting to evade authorities and cross into Cambodia, with links to illegal cyber scam operations.

All 19 individuals were taken into custody and transferred to investigators at Saton Police Station to face legal proceedings. Officials stressed that the arrests were conducted strictly in accordance with the law.

Thaitabloid reported that the Royal Thai Navy reiterated its commitment to proactive border security operations aimed at disrupting transnational crime, particularly technology-related offences such as cyber scams operating in Cambodia. It said Thailand would not allow its territory to be used as a transit route for criminal activity that threatens regional and global security. The Navy added that cooperation with all security agencies would continue to safeguard sovereignty, public order, and civilian safety.
