A fatal road crash claimed one life and left another person injured after a saloon car driver lost control, overturned and caught fire in Chonburi province on the evening of 17 December 2025. The crash occurred at around 6.30pm on the Ban Bueng–Klaeng road in Nong Suea Chang subdistrict, Nong Yai district. Villagers who passed the scene attempted to help, managing to rescue one occupant, while another was later found dead inside the burned vehicle.

Police from Nong Yai Police Station said the car, a Honda registered in Chonburi, veered off the road and struck a tree before overturning and bursting into flames. Fire crews from Nong Yai Municipality responded alongside rescue workers from the Sila Thammasamakom Foundation’s Nong Yai unit. Several fire engines were deployed and it took more than 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

After the fire was extinguished, officers discovered the body of a woman inside the wreckage, after being trapped and burned in the vehicle. A male occupant was pulled from the car in time by rescuers and local residents and was taken to Nong Yai Hospital for treatment. Golf clubs and numerous golf balls were found scattered across the road at the scene.

Mr Sakda, 37, who came across the crash while returning from picking up his daughter in Nong Suea Chang, said he saw the car engulfed in flames and attempted to use a fire extinguisher. He said the fire was already too intense to control by the time he reached the vehicle. Emergency services were then contacted.

Mr Chamrong Saengchompoo, a volunteer defence officer for Nong Yai district who recorded video footage of the incident, said he was returning home from work when he saw the overturned car on fire. He said he helped pull the injured male driver from the vehicle and asked whether anyone else was inside. According to Mr Chamrong, the injured man appeared disoriented and insisted he had been travelling alone.

Firefighters later confirmed that a second person had been inside the car, after the charred female victim was found in the burned wreckage. Police said the driver would be questioned in detail once his condition allows, to establish the cause of the crash and whether alcohol was involved. Legal proceedings will follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
