Police in Bangkok are investigating the discovery of a badly decomposed body with severed limbs found in overgrown grassland in the Khan Na Yao district. The unidentified remains were located on the afternoon of 18 December, prompting an urgent response from local police and forensic teams. Authorities cordoned off the area as they worked to establish the cause of death and the identity of the deceased.

The body was found at about 3.00 pm in a grassy, wooded area inside Soi Khu Bon 31, Intersection 1, in Ram Inthra sub-district, Khan Na Yao district. Officers from Khan Na Yao Police Station were alerted by a report of a suspected corpse and immediately attended the scene. Rescue personnel from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation were also called in to assist with the initial examination.

At the scene, officers found what is believed to be the body of an adult male in an advanced state of decomposition. The torso and limbs were separated, with arms and legs detached from the body and scattered within the grass. Due to the condition of the remains, investigators were initially unable to determine how long the body had been there or the exact cause of death.

Police said the location is a relatively secluded patch of grassland, which may have allowed the body to go unnoticed for some time. The severe decomposition suggests the death did not occur recently, though no timeframe has yet been confirmed. Investigators are treating the case as suspicious until forensic examinations provide further clarity.

Officers secured the area to prevent contamination of evidence while waiting for specialists to complete a detailed inspection. Forensic officers from the Police Forensic Science Division, along with a forensic pathologist, were requested to examine the remains. Their work is expected to focus on determining whether the body was deliberately dismembered or whether environmental factors contributed to the separation of the limbs.

At this stage, the identity of the deceased remains unknown. Police have not released information about missing persons or potential links to other cases, pending the outcome of forensic analysis. The remains will be transported for a post-mortem examination to help establish identity, cause of death and any signs of foul play.

Daily News reported that investigators said further updates would be provided once examinations are completed and more information becomes available. Residents in the area have been advised that police activity will continue while enquiries are ongoing.
