Immigration officers in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, launched a significant year-end raid on December 18, resulting in the arrest of 139 foreign nationals and fines levied on landlords for failing to comply with reporting laws. The crackdown, initiated by Immigration Division 3 following directives from the Royal Thai Police, targeted areas within Kamphaeng Saen district known for housing migrant workers without proper documentation.

The operation, led by Police Colonel Jiraphong Rujiradamrongchai, was supported by advanced intelligence and biometric screening, focusing particularly on the Sa Phatthana subdistrict. Officers discovered that numerous Myanmar nationals were living without proper registration, a violation of Section 38 of Thailand's Immigration Act. This law mandates that landlords report foreign nationals within 24 hours of their arrival.

Investigators found that these foreign residents had not been appropriately documented, resulting in 139 arrests and a combined fine of 222,400 Thai baht imposed on property owners for non-compliance. Each case was reviewed individually, ensuring accountability and legal adherence. Authorities emphasised to local business operators and residents the importance of their roles in preventing legal breaches and safeguarding the community from harbouring potential criminals.

Police Colonel Jiraphong noted that this operation is only the commencement of a more extensive immigration sweep aligned with national policy goals to strengthen security. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities to assist Immigration in taking decisive legal action when necessary, reportedn The Thaiger.
