A 36-year-old woman was found dead after falling from the 35th floor of a condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Na district on 19 December, causing shock among residents and prompting a police investigation. Officers confirmed the woman, identified as Ms Mint, was discovered at the side of Building E with catastrophic injuries. A knife was found nearby and the case has drawn attention due to her past criminal history.

Police from Bang Na Station were alerted to the incident and attended the scene with forensic officers, a forensic pathologist from Chulalongkorn Hospital and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. The condominium is a 35-storey building and Ms Mint was known to be staying on the top floor. Her body was found lying in a pool of blood, with two knife wounds to the neck.

A folding knife with a blade measuring about six inches, stained with blood, was recovered close to the body and retained as evidence. Officers later searched the deceased’s room and reported no signs of a struggle or suspicious disturbance. Several antidepressant medications were also found in the room and collected for examination.

According to police interviews, a friend of the deceased, Mr Natthapong, aged 35, said he was contacted by Ms Mint’s uncle at around 11.45pm. The uncle told him that Ms Mint had called to say “goodbye” before abruptly ending the call. When further attempts to reach her failed, Mr Natthapong went to the condominium, where he learned she had died.

Background checks revealed that Ms Mint was previously charged with the murder of Mr Wichan, also known as Kru Daeng, a 46-year-old Muay Thai trainer. The victim, whose ring name was “Wichannoi Sit Jephayao,” was found with his throat cut beside his car in the area of Prawet Police Station on the night of 21 February 2021. She was also subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Phra Khanong Criminal Court for failing to attend the reading of the first-instance verdict.

Khoasod reported that police said the discovery of her death has implications for the unresolved legal proceedings linked to that case. Investigators are continuing to examine forensic evidence and witness statements to determine the precise circumstances surrounding her death. No signs of third-party involvement have yet been confirmed. Authorities said the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police will also coordinate with relatives regarding funeral arrangements.

How "low" was the 35th-floor balcony in this case, then?

Knife wounds to the neck sound like foul play to me.

No signs of third party involvement, knife wounds to the neck from a knife in her possession, no disturbance in her room in which antidepressants were found and a phone call to say "Goodbye" to a relative does not sound anything like foul play.  But I read the OP.

Huh?  How do you know that it was too low?

The myth that never dies. Thailand has been using standard balcony rail heights for 50 years.

And even if they weren't. There is something called personal responsibility. Have you heard of it? If you notice a balcony a foot lower than you are used to, maybe, just maybe that is your clue to be more careful ?

Being from Canada and having stayed in countless hotels all over Thailand and a few condos I have never once noticed a low balcony railing.

As a smoker I always choose hotels with a balcony.
