A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death by a neighbour in a residential village in Phra Samut Chedi district, Samut Prakan, on the morning of 20 December 2025. The victim was attacked outside his home shortly after returning from work, suffering 15 stab wounds and died at the scene. Police have arrested the suspect, a 31-year-old neighbour and seized a knife believed to have been used in the killing.

The incident was reported at about 08.30 to Ban Khlong Suan police, prompting officers, forensic staff and rescue workers to attend the scene. The victim, identified as Mr Thornchai, was found lying face-up in a pool of blood on an internal village road near his parked motorcycle. The suspect, Mr Thakoon, who lived two houses away, was taken into custody for questioning.

According to neighbours, cries for help were heard moments before the victim was discovered motionless on the road. A resident living opposite said she saw the suspect retreat into his house after the stabbing and alerted the victim’s father and emergency services. CCTV footage later confirmed the suspect had been pacing nearby before pulling a knife from his trousers and launching the attack.

Relatives said the victim worked at a shopping centre, usually leaving home at 17.00 and returning between 05.00 and 06.00 each day. On the morning of the attack, he had parked his motorcycle and was about to enter his house when the suspect approached without warning and stabbed him repeatedly. Despite attempts by neighbours and the victim’s father to intervene, he succumbed to his injuries.

Family members described the victim as well-mannered, helpful and the main provider for his household. He had recently completed a period of ordination and was saving money to support his family, with plans to marry in the future. By contrast, residents said the suspect was known for violent behaviour and had previously clashed with neighbours.

The suspect’s mother told police her son had long been treated for psychiatric illness at a specialist hospital and regularly took medication. She said he had recently run out of medicine and claimed the hospital required him to attend in person, but he had fled home during a recent visit. She expressed remorse and apologised to the victim’s family for failing to control her son.

Khoasod reported that police documented the scene and recorded initial statements before sending the body for a post-mortem examination. The suspect remains in custody and has been handed over to investigators for legal proceedings. CCTV evidence will form part of the case as officers continue their inquiry.

Free will is an illusion. Our wills are simply not of our own making. Thoughts and intentions emerge from background causes of which we are unaware and over which we exert no conscious control. We do not have the freedom we think we have.

Free will is actually more than an illusion (or less), in that it cannot be made conceptually coherent. Either our wills are determined by prior causes and we are not responsible for them, or they are the product of chance and we are not responsible for them.

The question of how to assign responsibility for actions if they are caused entirely by past events. But in order to establish rules for living morally in a society, it is a pre-requisite to pretend that people possess free-will. The justice system is based on the existence of free-will, even if it includes the possibility of claiming insanity... The result would simply be a different type of freedom limitation.

This guy is certainly just not lucky, to have a behavior that is contrary to his own well-being..

All about luck..

A completely unprovoked attack, he should spend the rest of his life in a secure psycho ward, but TIT so if he pleads guilty just 10yrs, and less with good behavior...
