Train services in Bangkok will operate two hours longer on New Year’s Eve, announced the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) on Tuesday. This extension applies to the Purple, Blue, Yellow, and Pink lines, allowing returning revelers to travel home comfortably. Trains on these lines will depart from their last stations at 2am on January 1.

Previously, the MRTA maintained regular operating hours, but the extension aligns with New Year celebrations, particularly benefiting those attending countdown events. Local media also reported similar extensions for the Green, Gold, Red, and Airport Rail Link lines. Commuters can verify schedules at station information counters.

Park-and-ride facilities along these networks will also see modified hours. Facilities near the Purple, Blue, and Orange lines will open for 24 hours starting at 5am on New Year’s Eve. Additionally, the Green Line's parking services will extend until 3am on January 1.

Parking at specific stations on the Yellow and Pink Lines will also remain open beyond regular hours. At Si Iam station, parking on the Yellow Line will stay open until 1am, while Min Buri station on the Pink Line will offer parking until 2am, both free of charge, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • Bangkok trains will operate until 2am on New Year's Day for extended service.
  • Park-and-ride facilities will offer extended hours and some will stay open for 24 hours.
  • Parking at certain stations on Yellow and Pink Lines will remain open later for free.
