Trump doing something about what the rest of the World ignores - Muslims murdering Christians. Thank God.

If it can help fight Islamic terrorists, why not?

However, previous attempts to eradicate Islamic terrorists in this region have rather failed for decades.

Mods, this thread is about the US attacks on Nigeria.

Please remove these wayward posts about Jews in China and Christians in Syria.

1) The demand for distraction (principally) from the Epstein scandal but also the other various policy and financial messes originating from governing by late night tweets is quite relentless.

2) Nigeria may not be a particular ally, but it is of considerable interest - it has oil; rather a lot of it. True they have made such a mess of managing it that they actually have to import the stuff for domestic use but nevertheless...

The more I think about this, the more insane Trump's thinking seems to be. He's not saying 'We're going after terrorists." He's saying "we're going after terrorists who are killing Christians." If terrorists are killing Muslims, we're not going to lose any sleep over it. Just think how destabilizing this is for the Nigerian government which has been forced into allowing US military action on their soil (under threat of cuts to US humanitarian aid if they didn't.)  It puts the Nigerian government in the very awkward position of being pro-Christian in a country that is geographically and demographically divided between Christians and Muslims, and is going to predictably make the Nigerian government more unpopular in Muslim areas and likely make the government more of a terrorism target than it already is.

Can you imagine how destabilizing it would be for Africa if the most populous country on the continent erupted into civil war? The implications in terms of refugee movements for all of West and North Africa, not to mention Europe, are terrifying to contemplate.

This is why I have a sneaking suspicion that the Nigerian government may have given the US military bad intel for the strike locations. If someone in the Nigerian chain of command did do this as a face-saving way to avoid the easily predictable repercussions of such a poorly thought out plan, then I say more power to the Nigerian government for cleverly protecting their sovereignty and avoiding the fallout which was sure to come. The Nigerian people, who are regularly portrayed unfairly on this forum as a nation of love scam and Nigerian prince con artists and drug dealers, just may be smarter than they are given credit for.

Debris from a missile landed near a well, center, near Jabo Nigeria, and burned corn stalks which had been gathered for cattle feed

Amid the fear and the unknowns, a troubling narrative has emerged in Sokoto: Mr. Trump is targeting all Muslims in Nigeria. With all the might and intelligence of the U.S. military, why else would he bomb farming communities instead of terrorists?

Terrorists might have been hiding in the haystacks ?

No problem with me if the US bombs the intolerant religious fascist murderers into the next world.
