A recent survey by the King Prajadhipok Institute in Thailand shows growing dissatisfaction with the Bhumjaithai-led coalition government under Caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The poll, released on December 26, found 42% of respondents somewhat dissatisfied and 24% totally dissatisfied with the government's performance. In contrast, only 25% reported some satisfaction, and a mere 3% were very satisfied.

Surveyed across various regions, 2,016 participants reflected on the government's recent performance. Bhumjaithai, the core of the coalition, is discreetly influenced by de facto leader Newin Chidchob, alongside key partners like Klatham. The coalition faces criticism as the February 8 general election approaches.

Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangketkeow ranks second on Bhumjaithai's ticket for prime minister, while Anutin remains the top candidate. However, some key figures, such as Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapat and Commerce Minister Supajee Suthumpun, declined to be Anutin’s running mates. Anutin has indicated they will retain their ministerial roles if the party leads the next government.

The upcoming election sees partisan candidates vying for 400 constituency-based MP seats, with applications opening on December 27. Candidates for 100 party-listed MP seats will register on December 28. The poll results highlight challenges faced by the coalition as they seek to secure leadership in the forthcoming polls, reported Thai Newsroom.

Key Takeaways

  • 66% showed dissatisfaction with the Bhumjaithai-led government.
  • Anutin Charnvirakul remains the party’s prime ministerial candidate.
  • Key ministers have declined to be Anutin’s running mates.

Good a reason more not to vote them on the coming elections.. They have showed now that they are not able to govern the country

Useless survey, instead they should be rating the performance / comparison of the individual parties not the like / dislike of 1 party, the result means nothing.

I'm not so sure ..... After some Constitutional Court actions and coalition negotiations, the same people will be in power, and my bet is Anutin will still be PM.

Anutin and the BJT are just the conservative military-acceptable party stooges that can keep the status quo going... anything other than the PP party and the progressives. The Jurassic dinosuars will still hold power for a while longer, as they will stitch it up to their ends.... sadly.
