"Corruption and crime all the way to the very top".

Just like so many other countries, including yours.

Sure, but it's legal corruption involving donations to politician's political party, in return for government contracts, and so on and so on.

Here, they let the criminals build an underworld empire, and as long as they keep paying people in power, they can act with impunity.

Very different.

  • The attack on opposition politicians begins. Strange how it coincides with an upcoming election.

Very different from what?

From corruption that involves violence and murder.

In which countries?

All countries.

So why are you picking out Thailand in particular with your above posts?

Because Thai officials work with the Thai criminal underworld, so both enrich themselves.

The corruption at the top in other countries, particularly western countries, to which another member mentioned, is different.

Now, what about that corruption index. 🙂

Why are you implying that this applies only to Thailand now when you have stated earlier that it is worldwide?

Obviously, yes, but I wasn't making malicious assertions about Thailand.

Thailand's score nothing to brag about.

I didn't say that it was.

No, it's not.

Yes, it is.

Nothing.  I love it here.  I just chose to pay as I go.  Rent, not buy.  I have nothing I can't leave behind and head straight to the airport, should I want to, or need to.

It's people such as yourself that feel secure here that feel the need to justify your "investment" in Thailand to those that know better that makes me laugh.

That retirement visa / extension is nothing more than a 12 month tourist visa.

You have nothing you can't leave behind, you say.

Do you not have family here, loved ones?

Well, it is a Thailand focused forum. 😃

Are you suggesting it doesn't apply to Thailand?

Now, how about that corruption index? 😄

So, given the corruption index, would you agree that Thailand is very corrupt?

No. Happily single. All I have is a motor scooter that's a few years old, but with low kilometers, and a decent home entertainment system.

Like I said, nothing I can't walk, or run, away from. This is by design.

Which corruption index, compiled by which organisation? What has my opinion on that got to do with anything? Why are you asking me?

This one, but there are several with the same stats.

You suggested my country was the same as Thailand.

Noooooooo, Thailand is way more corrupt, and I suggest, way more corrupt than your home country.

I am ask you because you brought the sub-topic up, remember?

Now, how about that Joe Ferrari guy and Thaksin. They were both police officers. What a coincidence. 😂
