A nine-year-old boy has died after being pushed into a public waterway while playing with friends in Pathum Thani, despite prolonged resuscitation efforts and emergency treatment. The incident occurred on the morning of 3 January 2026 in Khu Khot subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka district, and has left family members and local residents in shock.

Emergency services were alerted at about 10.00am after reports that a child had fallen into a public canal leading towards Wat Lat Sanun in Moo 7, Khu Khot. Municipal rescue workers, police patrol officers from Khu Khot Police Station and local residents rushed to the scene, where the boy was found unconscious after being pulled from the water.

According to initial accounts, the boy, identified only as “A”, had been playing with two other children near the canal. One of the children allegedly pushed him into the water, after which his friends realised something was wrong and dragged him out, finding him unresponsive.

Witness Chakarin, 46, told police he saw three children pulling another child from the water while he was sitting behind his house. He alerted neighbours and contacted authorities after seeing that the boy was lying still and appeared unconscious.

Another witness, known as Aunt Noi, said she had returned from making merit at a nearby temple and noticed three children playing in the water. She intended to warn the children’s grandmother but arrived too late, learning shortly afterwards that the boy had drowned.

Local residents and police officers attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene, while waiting for medical assistance, to take over. A rescue vehicle from Prachathipat Hospital later arrived and transported the child to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Despite doctors’ efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at Prachathipat Hospital. Relatives who live near the scene gathered at the hospital and the canal, expressing grief over the sudden loss.

Police said preliminary questioning of “B”, also aged nine, confirmed that the victim had been pushed into the water during play. Officers documented the scene and informed investigators at Khu Khot Police Station, who will continue inquiries due to the involvement of minors.

Khoasod reported that authorities are expected to question witnesses and family members further to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine any next steps under juvenile procedures.
