Army Reclaims Border Territory from Cambodia, Denies Invasion

The Thai Army has announced it has merely reclaimed its territory long encroached upon by Cambodia, dismissing allegations of invasion. Army spokesman Maj Gen Winthai Suvaree clarified that actions taken were within Thai borders, countering assertions from Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs claiming otherwise.

For several decades, tensions have simmered at the Thai-Cambodian border, with disputes over territorial boundaries. Maj Gen Winthai claimed that Cambodia had established both military bases and civilian infrastructure in large areas of Thai territory. These encroachments led to numerous protests from Thailand without any resolution until now.

Cambodia has portrayed the Thai Army's recent operations as aggressive, but Maj. Gen. Winthai has emphasised that Thailand's position remains defensive. He pointed to Cambodia’s admission in recognising the disputed regions as Thai territory, seeking to quell diplomatic tension. This latest development has stirred both political and public interest in the region.

Looking forward, the focus will shift to diplomatic discussions to further address the long-standing border issues. Maintaining peace and bilateral relations between the two nations will be a priority as they work towards a resolution. Both sides are expected to engage in talks to prevent further escalation and strengthen regional stability, reported the Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Thai Army reclaimed areas it claims Cambodia had encroached upon.

  • Thailand denied invasion accusations, stating actions were on its territory.

  • Future diplomatic talks are anticipated to resolve border disputes.

Say that to the US, UK, France, Israel...

Thailand has taken areas they have disputed since 1907, when the French colonised Cambodia and made the map that Cambodia and the world court follow... the world court is European, and have never gone against the colonising country... otherwise Belgium would basically belong to Congo, paying restitution for the 10 million that Belgium killed there, America and Israel wouldn't have any military personnel as they would all be held for their war crimes.

So, as those countries has shown that you yan take whatever you want... Thailand is just following a praxis set by Europe and America (And China, Russia, Japan, Taiwan...)

Correction according to archives Thailand did not respond in 1907 on the border.... That is why they lost all appeals as in fact in 1907 they accepted it... 40 years later they couldn't complain on that anymore. Read this article:

In 1907 were they aware that the border was drawn up in correctly by the French. The border defined in the text is quite explicit. How does Cambodia claim the the coastal strip on the Gulf is theirs?

Taiwan? Don't tell me Tibet doesn't have a claim?

territory to reclaim... well, little reminder of the size of Siam before the colonial powers started chopping away. borders changed under military pressure. why they can't change again...under military pressure?

France could not even draw clear borders and is 100% responsible for this mess at the Cambodian border.

You would have thought in the 1930s when Thailand (Siam) tried to sort this out that given the small amount of land involved and since there was a clear **** up by the French surveyors that the French would have just said you know what you can have it. But even now after a Bexit deal not in the UK's favour the French are still whining about access to fishing in UK territorial waters. Oh and they get paid half a billion pounds a year to do **** all about stopping Channel migrants. Look what a mess they made of Vietnam.
