A fire broke out at the Maitree Pracha building of Phrae Hospital on the evening of 12 January 2026, prompting an urgent evacuation of patients and staff. The blaze occurred on the second floor of the building, causing widespread alarm but no reported injuries. Authorities later confirmed that the fire was brought under control and all patients were safely moved to secure areas.

The incident was first reported at around 5.40pm on 12 January, when social media pages including “Phrae People Association” shared video footage and urged the public to give way to fire engines responding to the emergency. Thick smoke was seen coming from the Maitree Pracha building, which is part of the main hospital complex in Mueang district, Phrae province. Hospital staff immediately began emergency procedures to protect patients.

According to subsequent updates, Mr Chaisit Chaisamritphon, Deputy Governor of Phrae, travelled to the scene to personally command the emergency response. Firefighters and relevant officials worked together to contain the blaze, while hospital personnel focused on evacuating patients from the affected building. Authorities confirmed that all patients were successfully evacuated and that no one was trapped inside.

By around 6.00pm, officials reported that the fire was under control, although firefighters continued to monitor to prevent any flare-ups. Safety checks were carried out across the area to ensure there was no ongoing risk to patients, staff or surrounding hospital buildings.

Another local news page, “Chumnum Khao Taiban”, also described the incident as urgent, confirming the same timeline and location. The page stated that patients had been relocated to safe zones within the hospital grounds and that there were no reports of injuries or deaths. Officials indicated that further details would be provided once inspections were complete. Amarin reported that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation by relevant authorities.
