Home address for E-SETV application made in Vietnam

Featured Replies

Applying in Vietnam for an SETV.

Under the heading "Address information", in the "Applicant Information" section, it first asks for "Home Address"......do I write my permanent address back in the UK or my temporary address at the hotel in Vietnam?

After that it asks "Is your permanent address same as your current address?" and allows you to click "yes" or "no".......the default answer is "yes" and clicking "no" opens another "Home address" section to fill out.

What address should I write in the second, newly opened, "Home address" section jn the event I click "no"?

Why bother when visa exempt is also 60 days?

I always suggest using the hotel where you're staying in Vietnam as your current address, and for tourist visas use your home address in your country as your permanent address.

Do you think I didn't know that?

I'm "bothering" because the IO put a note in my passport when I left Thailand advising me to get a Visa for my next entry:

You are smart to obtain the SETV.

As for address, Tods post above is best

Thanks to you and Tod for your efforts.

I was inclined to put the hotel in the first section and then put my UK address in the "pop up" section that appears after I declared "no"......because the hotel is not my permanent address.

However the problem is that I don't know if the first box is for the current or permanent address..........it's just labelled "Home Address".

I put the hotel in and then clicked on the next item "no", because it is not my permanent address, and up came the second box to fill in which is also just labelled "Home Address".

The basic issue is that neither the first box, nor the second "pop up" box, are marked as "permanent" or "current".......they are both just titled "Home Address".

Thankyou for replying.

In my response to DrJack54 I have tried to explain my ongoing dilemma.

This post won't be of much help. I haven't personally applied for eVisa for Thailand however often do for visa to Vietnam.

Recently applied for one when I was in Oz and I put my Oz address in both fields of current and permanent address.

Next week I will apply for another while in Thailand.

I will put my current address as Thai address and permanent address as either the same or my Oz address.

Don't think it's all that important.

If anything I would put current address as in the country I'm located when applying.

In your case that would be Vietnam address. Hotel is fine

If you had posted this in your opening post I would have read the note in your passport and not made the coment that I made.

Where did that happen? Did they also question you or talk to you about it, or just made the note?

Mukdahan

I was aggressively berated by one charmless, boorish, low rank IO and addressed pleasantly by their polite and well spoken senior.........who annotated my passport.

I declined to comment on your post.

The one thumbs down that you have received, at the time of my writing this, is not my work.

This situation is no longer an issue for me.
