TM-47 90 Day Reporting by Mail

Featured Replies

Do any of the experts know how long a TM-47 by mail takes to process these days? (Chaeng Wattana) I mailed mine in on 04 Dec. Due date was 19 Dec. I would think that this could be turned around in a month's time but I've yet to receive a receipt of notification.

Also, there's a deadline for posting - "at least 15 days before the due date of notification".

However, I have never seen anything about how early you can submit by mail? I target 29 days before the due date but I wonder exactly how early one could submit via mail. Is for example 89 days possible?

Did you send an EMS self-addressed envelope for return?

Make sure the packet is postmarked at least 2 weeks before the actual due date, send it Thai Post EMS (which is trackable), make sure you have the self addressed pre-stamped envelope for them to mail back your 90 day report receipt.

Sadly what you imagine the turnaround time to be doesn't even factor into the equation 😉 it is my experience you should expect it will take between 6 and 8 weeks to get your 90-day report receipt mailed back to you. Or that's about how long it was taking before they moved the 90-day report room last year upstairs into its own room.

On the rare chance your next 90-day due date comes up before you get your receipt back take in the proof that it was delivered on time they will look in the box of undeliverable mail and see if your receipt is in there or they'll just print you a new one right then.

No, you can't mail out a 90-day report 89 days in advance.. I wouldn't do it anymore than 3 weeks before the due date.

Sit tight wait it out it'll show up after a couple months, or that's how it usually works out..

You should post 14-15 days prior to due date. Not more not less.

With due respect, Dr. Jack per the Immigration website:

"Your registered mail must be sent to the Immigration office at least 15 days before the due date of notification."

So I wouldn't post it 14 days prior. But the website still doesn't answer the question of just how far in advance one could post the report.

Yes, of course. And by the way, the postage rates have increased. While Immigration recommends 10 baht of postage on the SASE, one should really put 15 baht worth of postage on the SASE. Not sure when Immigration might get around to updating that bit of their website.

I would and have many times.

Also what's the big deal interest in how far prior to due date can you post it.

Do it 15 days prior to due date.

CW in particular known to not even process it till after due date.

Thanks, Tod. So I have one question and one comment.

Question: My understanding is that after a person returns to Thailand from abroad then the next TM-47 must be submitted in person. I presume that means no reporting by mail, no reporting online. Even though we all have to file a TM-30 immediately (24 hours) after arrival, Immigration doesn't know where we live? I'm trying to figure out a logical reason for why they make us all trek out the CW to queue up and show our face. Any ideas?

Comment: There's no overlap of deadlines for filing by mail vs filing online. So let's say you file online on the first day (+15 days) that the system and regulations allow. Then you have to wait at least 24 hours for a reply, probably more like 3 days. By then the deadline for filing by mail (+15 days) has passed. So if the online submission is rejected for any reason you have no option but to make a trip to CW to report in person, because it is too late to file by mail.

Unfortunately I'm one of those rare people that the online system doesn't seem to handle very well. Online reports fail more often than they are approved. I was once told by an IO that it has something to do with two different data bases in Immigration and I am in the old one. Not sure if that is true or she was just trying to make me feel better about how long it was taking her to process and print out a receipt of notification. (heh heh.)

Sometimes I miss the old days when I was traveling 50% of the time and didn't have to even think about a TM-47.

My social calendar is so packed some weeks, there's simply no time for me to go to the post office. 😆😂😆

Incorrect. Mail submission is acceptable even the first time after returning from abroad.

After trip abroad report in person (includes agent) or via Mai and not online
