US passport renewal info

Featured Replies

So, I'm doing the USA passport renewal by mail. Need some guidance by those who have done this recently, Guess I'm a dullard.

I paid the $130. for passport fee, printed out the receipt sent to email. Instructions say "Make sure it has a Tracking ID" The receipt has an Application number, is that the same?

I just purchased the 100 baht postage with Thailand Post Mart. Do I send this receipt that was emailed or am I being sent a physical envelope to include in my application package?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you printout the checklist form: https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/249/2025/08/Checklist-for-DS-82-Online-Payment-2.pdf from the embassy website and include it with your application which is required! If I recall correctly, the application itself does not specify that a photocopy of the passport is required, but the checklist specifies that this is a requirement, so if you don't include and use the checklist form you will miss this detail which may result in a delay in the processing of your app.

Also, unless I am recalling incorrectly, the app says only one passport photo is required, but the checklist specifies two passport photos are required.

In answer to your second question, the checklist form has an entry for you to provide the ThaiPost receipt number. You don't get a return envelope from ThaiPost. The Embassy has a way to confirm the return postage envelope has been paid for.

I think I got my new passport in about 3 weeks from mailing (Sept of last year). Also, you might want to review your bank accounts and evaluate whether you will need your passport to execute any banking activity during the period of time your passport is being processed. If so, you may want to notify the bank ahead of time so that if you don't have your passport you can still make the banking transaction.

One thing I messed up was apparently before you leave the site where you pay for passport there's a page to print which shows the tracking number which I failed to do. The email receipt they mail out doesn't have it, only has application number. Called the Embassy today but they have a US holiday off. I really really want to make sure they'll accept what I have. Bank already paid out the $130.

I highly highly recomend letting Key Visa do your USA passport renewal for you in Pattaya...

You don't have to figure out Jack....They do everything for a modest fee...I used them last year....It's about a one-month wait...

I think you can view and print your payments on Pay.gov
