And Thais complain about tourists who don't know the rules and habits of Thailand, but when they go on holiday it seems that they are not so informed too..So maybe less critics on the foreign tourists

The guy is probably pissed he got stuck in a crappy job standing still and looking like someone out of the 18th century. I know they like hanging on to the past but maybe it's time for the Brits to

I withdraw my post regard you obviously being the person that got out of bed etc.

My apologies as I misread your original post

She should have known better... same rules at the Grand Palace in Bangkok with their guards. As usual, numpty tourists.

Many videos like this on YouTube of tourists from several different nationalities each not respecting the guards space.

Perhaps many tourists cannot read English, so do not understand the white lines sign, etc, bit like me trying to understand a Thai sign, and the soldier shouting in English probably means nothing to them either....🤭

I apologize.

I was only joking.

I thought you were, too.

Note: I normally take your comments as being made in jest. I hope that you will take mine in the same vein.

Life is too serious to also be serious here.

But, I am sure you already know this.

Note2: I am sure the guard was just joking, as well. He was having a belly-laugh on the inside.

Rubbish.

Stop it after the "tradition" of not touching a monk has been scrapped.

There is a shortage of military personnel. There would be a more effective use of military personnel if they were used for military duties and not ceremonial displays at minor locations, such as entrances where this person was stationed. People are reluctant to enlist if they are going to have to stand around in obsolete uniforms from a bygone era doing cosplay. If that's what is needed, hire people who want to cosplay. These soldiers do contribute to security, which is why the police are stationed at the location.

Should all traditions be scrapped and if so which ones and why?

See answer above. This is not a critical location.

Would Thais engage in the same behavior towards Royal guards in Thailand?

The difference is Thais don't seem to be butthurt about it like Americans, Brits and Albanians
