I went to Nong khai last week one day late was fined 500baht but official at immigration said Vientiane Thai Embassy was OPEN that day 15 Aug.

Got to other side of friendship bridge,everyone there said embassy is closed today for a Laos holiday.So wasted a day at Vientinae,and next day the QUEUE had to be seen to be beleived,collected my 90 day visa on next day after QUeing again.

Could we have your excellent website publish a list oe Laos ,Cambodian,Malaysian public holidays as well as the Thai ones to help potential visa seekers like me?

AND I thought that the first 24 hours of an overstay was not subject to a fine,was told this only applies at the airport.Is this correct?

Anybody to enlighten me please.

Smart idea if admin can get a reliable list of the public holidays in adjacent countries

Yes, the 'free' first day of overstay does only apply at the airport (and if you're two days late you get fined for both days)

at least the Thai Embassy in Laos has a updated webpage, wonder why people don't do their homework .

For Malaysia I have not found one yet , and the Thai Embassy in PP/Cambodia is not recommended for a Visa Run.
