Police in Pattaya are reviewing video footage after a dangerous late-night incident in which a man was seen clinging to the bonnet of a moving  car, alarming other motorists and prompting widespread concern online. The incident occurred at about 21:00 on 1 February 2026 and was captured on video that quickly circulated on social media. Authorities say the situation posed a serious risk to road safety, although no injuries have been reported so far.

The incident took place beneath the motorway 7 overpass on the inbound lane to Pattaya. Video footage shows the man holding onto the front of a car as it continued driving, with the driver refusing to stop. The vehicle was seen travelling from motorway 7 towards Sukhumvit Road in central Pattaya, shocking drivers who encountered it along the route.

According to a Facebook post by the person who recorded the clip, the man claimed his car had been stolen and that he jumped onto the vehicle in an attempt to prevent the suspect from escaping. The post also urged other motorists to help intercept the car, which contributed to the rapid spread of the video online. Police have not yet confirmed whether the vehicle was actually stolen.

At the scene, reporters spoke with Mr. Phongsathon Taengdaen, a 19-year-old motorcycle taxi rider who witnessed the incident. He said he first noticed the man clinging to the car while it ravelling away from the motorway. Mr. Phongsathon added that the car later slowed and briefly stopped near his motorcycle taxi stand before accelerating away again, with the man still on the bonnet.

Mr. Phongsathon said he and others tried to run over to help but could not reach the vehicle in time. He also considered following the car on his motorcycle but was unable to do so because he had to transport a passenger. His account supports what is seen in the video, which shows the car continuing its journey despite attempts by bystanders to intervene.

Khoasod reported that authorities said they are examining the video footage and questioning witnesses to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have not confirmed the identities of the driver or the man on the bonnet, and no additional damage has been reported.
