Would it not be a good idea to have the facility to Remove all Notifications once they have been read. And get rid of Top News Stories and General Topics and TOPICS. x 2 when the same story is in both.

As for Popular Contributors......it's only themselves they want to see there.

I thought I had posted this in the correct Forum, not Pattaya. Please move it Mods, thanks.

It now says EDIT TOPIC instead of SAVE. Why?

No, it's back to SAVE now. Now Edit Topic again.

Why not opt for "redactions" as well ?

Must be more than a few would appreciate blanking out of foot in mouth responses .

I would enjoy a catalog of blatant assertions and statements as references. Securely anonymous record naturally. Same like election records !

You CAN edit what you initially type before hitting SUBMIT.

I think you missed something.

For whom? Do you really need to read them over and over again?

The idea is you ignore the non bold ones, i find that easy. The other thing to bare in mind is sometimes they go non bold even when I haven't read them, I've just opened the thread, so you wanting them to be gone is a bad idea

Overwhelming redaction already ?

I posted a whimsical response suggesting satire.

The machine deleted such response presumably on the basis of minimal content even if few words were plenty sufficient in my explanation.'

I shall resist further comment as it would be superfluous in this context. I have feeling AI monitoring is devoid of sentient appreciation !

Have you not noticed they are in ascending order with unread in bold print?

And I think it would be a good idea.

Oh yes, it is BEAR, to carry or endure, whereas BARE means Naked!

As soon as you open the top Notification, the others go non-bold. Well they do on my PCs.

Yes, but why keep ones which are days old ON MY PC.

Because you might just remember/want to add a comment to your response to recent (hours?) notification but cannot remember the exact topic/poster!

PS; As they take up no room on your computer what difference does it make?

As someone has already said the unread ones are in bold!

Are they on your PC? Or are they within the content of the AN website ?

Is AN content bloating your computer files when you log out of AN ?

No idea. All I know is that sometimes there can be twenty or more Notifications, most of which I have read and replied to, or simply want to ignore and delete.

When I re-log into AN, the same Notifications are still there.

JUst ignore the historical record.

If AN was to facilitate your wish the record will continue to exist somewhere regardless. That's why data centers will eventually deny access to sufficient energy for the population to exist in the compelling need to record any and all individual and personal electronic interactions just in case they potentially could form some threat against the establishment even in innocuous form !

Fight fight fight against the paranoia !

course,so give the ability to back-track on any Notifictons you missed, already repliedto or simply do not want to see bilge from some other members. Yes, of course you could ignore them, but why should I? Get rid!

If you resist the urge to scroll down then historical are not visible.

Have you no personal self control ?

I assume that you only want to get rid of them just for you!

Unfortunately, as I am sure you have seen/read above that, many of us like the ability to see recently read notifications so I sincerely hope that the powers that be do NOT "get rid" of a verry useful facility!

Yes, get rid for just ME, as I do with messages, emails, texts and other stuff I have already read, understood and reacted or replied to.

The Notifications are not stored on your computer or inside your email accounts etc!

They are part of a website which has the same content that is available to all subscribers!

Right. I think it works fine the way it is.

Bear in mind that it's your age to make problems with things that aren't problems i.e non bold ones

Yes, as soon as you read the top one, the others go non-bold before you get to them.

Someone, scottiejohn, commented that the Forum is the same for everyone, but this proves that it isn't so, the Notifications do not go non-bold until you personally read the top one.

which kinda proves you wouldn't want them to disappear

IMHO Notifications are just a nuisance, which is why mine are switched off.
