XE showing 41.936.

Can use fee free CC over the counter to get cash.Even via ATM would be better than the PO if taking out the max, the total cost would around 1% to 2% off spot rate.Keeping it simple, 220 baht fee from a 22,000 baht withdrawal equals 1%. Mastercard/Visa can be 0.5% to 1% off spot rate.Current rate of 41.85 minus 1.5% equals 41.22.Current rate of 41.85 minus 2% equals 41.01.

He's clever (and half Thai) so will know to avoid the conversion option. As you say easiest way it would appear. Am surmising there is an ATM at Samui airport (never been personally)

Max might be 20k, so you are looking at a rate of around 41 after fees, using Mastercard. 41.18 at current rates.
