US sinks Iranian warship as Tehran warns of wider regional destruction

It did split in two visible in the footage. As for being nowhere near Iran it's naval warfare. What does being in international waters have to do with anything?

All wars are sad to read about and this war is no exception. I feel sad for every injury and live lost on all sides.

In the case of this torpedoed Iranian warship, she was armed with Chinesese designed Surface to Surface Missiles (SSM) ... ie anti-ship missiles. These missiles ( with a +200km range) would presumably pose a threat to any American or Israeli shipping in the area.

Also, the attacking submarine may have had constraints, .. constrants that we don't know about, which may have necessitated firing the torpedo at that time else contactwith the warship lost.

Sadly, war is war. I pray a way to peace is found.

Iran should set a priority to disable the US war ships. Sinking a US carrier would be an enormous victory and face loss for war criminal Trump.

I know this will be interpreted as being a nasty thing to say and I will likely be called a traitor by those that know I'm American, but I think I would enjoy seeing an aircraft carrier sunk as long as the soldiers could be rescued. Both Trump and his clown SEC DEF need an enormous amount of egg on their face at this point, and something like that would sure provide it.

Are the US Armed Forces invincible? Absolutely not.

Now you can bomb schools and kill kids, bomb buildings with the supreme leader and shoot drones out to the sky..up to you.

But when you sink a Navy ship and kills sailors,,that pisses me off.

Quite a bit of back stabbing you could call it. Both parths had been invited to a Naval exercise by India, and at the end, and ships returning home Usa attacked the ship in international water.

This is what circulating right now, and facts or not, Usa loosing credibility for every day by their partners and also those who have been neutral and of course their already competitors and enemies. Usa have done more harm to their reputation the last year than they have made the last 40 yers or more. Could had been a strong partner, but China winning every day by doing nothing else than stand behind their partners. Usa is on pair with Russia seen with European eyes.

Social media text going viral

«An unarmed Iranian ship was invited, along with the U.S., to be part of an Indian Naval exercise, and its sailors paraded on land before the president.

The U.S. at the last minute pulled out of the exercise and instead attacked the Iranian ship with a torpedo.

Breaking with all norms of civilization and warfare, we then refused to rescue the drowning survivors. The Sri Lanka Navy was left to pull the dead bodies from the water.

I am hard pressed to think of any other nation throughout history that would do something so cowardly and despicable. We are genuinely in a league of our own, and American media — mostly shrugging off the bombing of a girls school and acting as if carpet bombing Tehran is a normal military tactic — is deeply complicit.»

Wonder what the response would be if an American destroyer was hit and sunk on its way to the gulf.

They almost did a few decades ago I don’t recall the ships name and I think it was an FFG…she came very very close to sinking but her crew saved her,I’ll look her up.she was the samual b Robert’s better known as the Sammy B it was by an Iranian mine in1986 there were no deaths.her back was broken but she was repaired and returned to service.

Let me go check ................................ yup, that was you.

I guess you've never been exposed to satire, someday if I have some time I might break it down for you, it is a really interesting concept.

No quite the contrary it was the false flag, fake patriot Republicans who called me a traitor.

A true bottom of the barrel pick, with absolutely no skill, incredibly minor levels of intelligence, and stunning degrees of ignorance which probably makes Trump very comfortable.

There was a reason why the highest point he ever ascended to was an incredibly minor Fox News host, that very few people had ever heard of. But Trump thought he was handsome and that he would look good on camera and that was his primary qualification for SEC DEF, which tells you all you need to know about Trump's utter and complete the disregard for the Armed Forces and our veterans.

US lefties doing the same at this moment. Clearly support “ayatollah”s since president Carter (as well as clear support by Obama and Biden) put them in power and supported them under cover of revolution against king of Iran. By the time humans right was very active against king, but when ayatollahs began filling mass graves by people the humans right turned to be very quiet and UN as well.

It was in April 1988 and as a result the US attacked the Iranian navy and oil infrastructure;

the attack destroyed, damaged, or sank two Iranian oil platforms, two frigates, a fast-attack craft, several armed boats, and two fighter jets.

A disgusting cowardly act by the americans (led by the Israelis). A boat somewhere across the other side of the world opens up similar targets for Iran.

So, the Iranians will now also carry out a A disgusting cowardly act ?

They do have mini subs don’t know much about them .so I’d expect the navy if allowed to function without interference from Washington will keep the larger assets out of the confined waters of the gulf.most likely they will use the more expendable vessels there .so sure there’s a chance the Iranians might get a lick in.Personally I’m far and away more concerned about soft targets in the DECADES to come the Iranians are expert at hitting schools churches shopping malls sports venues nightclubs etc ect so yup thanks Donnie!Trump will be getting Americans killed long after he’s dead and gone with his war.

It's a requirement of the Geneva Convention that the aggressor picks up survivors. The American submarine made no attempt to do that.

Both the Americans and Iranians were invited to the same "friendly" exercises, and it was a requirement of the exercises that no live ammunition by present.

This was quite simply a war crime, and the submarine captain needs to be held to account.

Doubt the sub skipper would expose his vessel to retaliation….that being said I doubt much is left of Irans navy by now.I’m sure they have destroyed everything they can find down to patrol craft …..and please don’t take my comments as supporting Donald’s Epstein war I don’t….but I do support the professionalism and expertise of our military.

Whether you like it or not, Ayatollahs and their mesenteries will be smoked all soon. I’m sorry for lefties who couldn’t support them in the field even though they tried to do so financially by not blocking them for selling oil truly

God bless America and genuine people of Iran.

Who or what did this Iranian ship pose an imminet threat to while in the Indian Ocean? Last time I checked a declaration of war against Iran has not been made yet. Based upon my undestanding about the laws of war once war is declared any ship, aircraft, vehicles or personnel with the military of the enemey is fair game. I am defending Iran but laws are laws.

True but this is the trump administration they don’t obey laws or the constitution he just dictates war it’s his MO ditctate then tie it up in court and cloak the illegal act in the flag calling it patriotic…..the rubes just gobble it up us lucid ones see it for what it is.

The sub skipper was aware that the Iranian vessel was there at the invitation of the Indian government and that it was a condition of attendance that the vessel have no live ammunition.

However you look at it, it was the sub skipper's responsibility to hang around and rescue survivors, I understand the vessel sank so no threat to the sub.

I dono it’s a risk and modern submarines are ill equipped to rescue because of their shape and help was nearby…..that being said I agree they shouldn’t have taken the shot.it could have easily been destroyed nearer to the strait on its way home to lend credence to trumps claim this isn’t a war.please don’t think I condone this tragedy or trumps Epstein distraction war.

If we the US do this on the open seas then will China try it next? Just imagine an American Naval ship or aircraft flies over the Taiwan straits and China fires at it. China could say "we were just responding to a threat to our homeland. "what is good for the goose is also good for the gander".

I thought it was one of main rules of the sea to render assistance to the survivors of ships in distress or damaged (like a torpedo just hit it). The Sri Lanka's did rescue many of the Iraninan sailors and it's not like Sri Lanka has a large navy or even a coast guard.
