Hard Landing Disrupts Phuket Airport Operations

An Air India Express flight from Hyderabad to Phuket was involved in a landing incident that temporarily shut Phuket International Airport’s runway on March 11. Early reports said the Boeing 737 Max 8 made a hard landing, causing a tyre to burst and damaging the nose landing gear. The aircraft was left stuck on the runway, creating delays, diversions, and holding patterns for other flights. Authorities said the plane was carrying 140 people, including passengers and crew, and no injuries were reported. The runway closure remained in effect for several hours while teams worked to secure the aircraft and restore operations.

I wouldn' fly with them for a different reason. I had to get to an Indian location to convince a potential Inidan conglomerate company to award a very big consulting contrac to my consulting company. The Indian Airlines flight I took was the only option to be at the Indian destination before the deadline set by the conglomerate looking for asuitable consultant.

We took off full flight with no proper safety heck, no seat belt check, numerous Indian travelers in their seats nursing large TV's, mini washing machines and more.

A passenger near pressed the cabin service button several times and a steward came. The concerned passengers said 'look, these people have lit a small pump up kerosine stove in the aisle and they are cooking food.

The steward insisted they stop immediately and extinguish the fire. They refused.

The captain was called, he said 'leave them alons, they have to eat.'

Cooking continued I guess for another 30 minutes then stove fire cancelled.

The total flight time was 5 hrs. Several times suddenly here was strong urine smell. A nearby passenger said 'that guy there (next row in front, with big TV across his lap) has pissed himself, see the urine on the floor?' Also faeces smell.

Deplaning was also an unpleasant experience, total chaos, yelling and demanding, 'call the captain I deserve more respect' claims etc.

I decided to 'sit it out' 15 minutes later 90+% of the passengers had deplaned. Luckily I had just two medium size bags, in the overhead lockers.

An agent was waiting for me, quickly to an arranged hotel then to the client office. I made the presentation and within 2 hrs we were advised we had won the project.

Client also advised, 'from now to the end of the ptoject (about 2 years) all of the travel of myself and my teamwas was to use a private jet owned by the client'.

A cooking stove on an airline and the captain let it go. What a mess.
