F35 takes a hit over Iran

Featured Replies

How about some common sense?

Had the aircraft been hit by an anti aircraft missile, it would have been destroyed. It is likely that Iran does not have any anti aircraft systems left. This was the first thing the Israelis and USA. targeted. The Israelis have been taking out key Iranian figures over the past 3 weeks and now all of a sudden, Iran can fire a missile at a US aircraft?

The aircraft most likely had a systems issue or the pilot flew their own debris field or there was friendly fire. The fact that it landed safely with its pilot alive is a positive outcome, not a negative.

You mean wait until Karoline comes up with the cover ass fantasy story for the press, like "It was an old F-35 that was due to be scrapped next week."

No I didn't. The "empty tank" comment was in response to another member being unable to support his opinion with anything credible or remotely factual.

Maybe it had the same "systems issue" as another F-35 had over Bandar Abbas?

I don’t have any ‘heroes’.

The history of the US claiming technological advantage in wars before shipping body bags home by the tens of thousand is tragically well established.

The world is already discovering the fallacy of your claim, ‘they have nothing’.

American families across the U.S. are already receiving flags in exchange for their sons and daughters in this illegal Israeli/US war of aggression.

And here you are with your idiotic comments on this being about ‘sides’ and ‘heroes’.

Getting real hysterical arent you

Everyone is getting hung up on missile systems, but Iran also deploys plenty of rapid firing anti-aircraft guns - the various Soviet ZSU 23 guns, often in multiple mounts, 2 or even 4 guns, and also 35mm canon.

Old fashioned maybe, but also capable of being fired without sophisticated radar signatures which attract countermeasures. They have a high rate of fire and are relatively easy to conceal. A modern hight tech "stealth jet" especially if flying at low or medium height is vulnerable to being damaged or even brought down by fire from a well sited and carefully controlled ambush by these guns.

are they sure its Iran, how can it be??? Trump said and keeps saying the same over and over that they obliterated Iran's army, missiles launchers, drones and everything else, he said Iran can't do anything to fight back, so I am wondering how can Iran use a anti-air fire power... humhummm something doesn't sound right

Trump says a lot of things which later become evident as complete falsehoods.

He's eliminated missile launchers and drones? What's hitting the Gulf states, marshmallows?

What astounds me is how some posters keep swallowing his BS like it was fine wine.

An event from 27 years ago when defensive systems were not as developed hardly makes for a trend. The aircraft at the time was determined to have been on a non evasive flight path, i.e. not taking into consideration the potential for anti aircraft missile systems.

And again, if it had been an anti aircraft missile, the aircraft would have been lost, not able to keep flying and to land safely as it did.

Perhaps it was anti aircraft fire, relying on infra red tracking, but it was unsuccessful because the aircraft landed safely. The celebratory excitement by some because an F35 was damaged is premature. All that has been demonstrated is that the aircraft is able to withstand groundfire and. return to a safe location intact and the pilot unharmed.

  1. what are you on about ? f-117 was escorted by two (2) f-16 armed with HARMs to take out any radar targeting system.

nobody knows where every mobile AD is, not in serbia, not in iran

  2. so you havnt read neither history nor statistics then, fighters and bombers do get hit but can make it to a base

  3. there are many options, IR, radar, optical guidance's, f-35 is not invisible to radar, especially not to AESA radar, but if i had to guess, this was optically guided

An event from 27 years ago that was found to be a result of a failure to take evasive measures has no bearing on the recent reported damage to an F-35. You are carrying on as if this was some sort of groundbreaking event. How many hundreds of sorties have been flown over Iran? One minor incident has been reported. This is insignificant and meaningless.

No. You are presenting an action specific a number of vessels already enroute as a lifting of a ban on Iranian exports. Where is your source?

What has happened, is that the USA gave permission that previously sold oil and gas that was already on its way to market, could continue its transit. The tankers would have been stranded at sea with nowhere to go as they could not return to their home ports. This allowance is valid until April 19. It was already sold, not a new export.

Got it.

What ws the reason for the F -35 runnuing low on fuel and causing it to land ?

Was the empty tank caused by a misclaculation ?

  1. Quote

running not runnuing and miscalculation not misclaculation, hope that helps if not feel free to visit the nearest library and buy a dictionary

When this many aircraft are over on AO(Area of Operation) one or more will encouter hostile fire. Heck even the the Yugoslav Army shot down an F117 (Nighthawk Stealth Fighter) back in 1999 with a SAM. The worst case would be for an American pilot to eject over Iran.

I have no difficulty with English, and when a word, ie CHECK is missed out, someone needs to tell him.
