Best party of the year, Cannot wait.

I saw that on the Web, so many foreigners complaining.

Happy Songkran to all the lovely Thai people ♥️

I bought my girlfriend a special skimpy outfit to play in, I'd post a photo of her in her outfit but I'm fed up with all the hostile comments. 💪

And to all those foreigners moaning, commiserations 😂

Thanks for the reminder.
I must stock up on 620ml diuretics before the traffic on Highway 21 clogs up like a obese diabetic smoker's artery in Mississippi.
While I have various small places of retail nearby, as all villages do, the northern-bound lane is where the bulk-sale/wholesaler is.
Basically, for these five-nine days (depending on the weekend's position) I don't drive. Sure, I'll go to the morning market on my motorcycle as it is on this side of the highway three kays from my house but I won't get in the car and/or drive on the highway; it's just insane.
Highway 21 becomes almost impossible to cross/u-turn by vehicle without travelling nine clicks south before you get to a set of traffic lights, then once up in the village again, get the beverages and then drive north ten clicks to the next set of traffic lights to come south again; the u-turn lanes being hopelessly useless due to the number of people traveling north, using the Nam Nao National Park road (Highway 12) to get to the NE via Khon Kaen. And, of course, the reverse is true on the last day before work starts up again in Bangkok.
Sure, the number of vehicles is expected to be down on the pre- and post-C19 years due to the fuel crisis but I'll take no chances.
Actually, I should have noticed earlier, not keeping that much of an eye on the date: my nasal passages signaled the noisome arrival of the over-perfumed sister-in-law's sister-in-law from over 200 metres away after her drive from Sukhothai. Why spray lightly when one can bathe in it, eh?

I look forward to the village's Buddha-cleansing ceremony and the drive back from the river on a flat-tray truck.
My house is also used as the central place for the extended family's New Year blessings - and post-blessing beverages - as it has a large dedicated outdoor entertainment area (baan-lom/sala) under some tamarind trees. Coincidentally, just coincidentally, it also has a fridge...

Stay safe everyone.

Believe him. As he has stated, he still works offshore and she is fully paid for and he lavishes gifts on her continuously. Sure it is fake but I seriously doubt she isn't lovely physically. It will end terribly but like any highly addictive drug, nothing else matters.

Songkran is not all bad but I could do without it. I don't mind getting wet but the ice water is extremely challenging. Bought a insulated waterproof jacket last week and with my full masked helmet, it will be OK. Last year I was mostly dry in my non-insulated jacket but the ice water still stung.

In hat yai around 2003 or 2004 cant remember exactly which year it was. They set up a jousting pool on the main road near central and Lee gardens. It was awesome. I had a go. Loved every minute of it. Next day my thai friend drove us around town in his pick up. Great times.

Oh, the humanity!

What a silly post. Xmas and Easter are CHRISTIAN Festivals which, unfortunately, Thais and many other countries have hi-jacked and spend accordingly.

Do they celebrate Songkran in UK, USA or any other countries?

What an even sillier post. Songkran is fun, those others are so boring.

Anyone who can travel around from dawn to dusk in the back of a pickup throwing water at people has to have a very low boredom threshold.

So what date does the Songkran festivities actually start in Pattaya? How long does it last?

The mornings are generally safe from water throwing....No 100% guarantees but mostly safe...Vastly safer than the afternoon or night..

Take a bucket of water in the face and chest while riding a M/C (7.30 am one day) and then tell me how you feel about it!

quite this Year because of fuel price. Good

A lot of farang a-hats who think shooting people in the face with high pressure water is fun.

The ice cold water that so many use no is no fun either.

I'll stay away from big water fight areas next week.

I'm sure not if exclusively farangs but I mostly have noticed them as not really knowing the difference between fun and sadism.

But a photo would be convincing.

Going out this morning to do my "big shop" to see me through to next Wednesday 🍻

Guess you never celebrated it with your family, giving presents and enjoying a great dinner, where much or all of the family got together and celebrated the birth of Jesus and his resurrection.

Songkran is fun for those interested in celebrating it. it isn't fun for those who have to go about their own business , driving to the market or stores for shopping, and getting hit in the face with water and or powder, which is a danger when on a scooter. driving an auto doesn't pose a risk to anyone besides those getting too close but there are many without an auto who want to go shopping and get home safely. Those throwing water and powder don't take into consideration the ones who only want to shop and return home. Also is a time when many die, celebrating a holiday, when it should be celebrating life and not people dying. And yes, I've celebrated it, with my family here, but never threw anything at people who obviously weren't into the celebrations.

Stocked up on Wednesday. We're in for the next week and a half.
