You’re making up your own version of reality. I’ll never lose someone like you in a political debate.

Music is life. A friend told me what you said and I never understood him. he's a very intelligent business owner with the same hobbies, but later he did tell of some music likes, so it wasn't a total loss for him.

It has nothing to do with age, as a person getting older can appreciate the finer points of music, whereas much of the the younger crowd is usually into pop. I'm as much into music now as I was in the 70's.

Some say music died after the 70's and 80's , but there is still great music coming out now. Of course you can't compare the innovators of back then with today, but progressive rock just for one has some excellent musicians, along with the southern and blues rock revival, folk and fusion. Good music never dies, and some is timeless.

I disagree. Music created since 2015 has nothing that interests me. All my favourite songs are older. Bands tend to have 1 to 4 good albums in them. Then they lose the ability to create.

Nobody loses to him in any debate. He is a speed hump.

Then you were never a true music fan. CDs have no character. Vinyl did.

How old are you btw? You talk like a teenager.

How much music have you produced in your lifetime? Have you produced using reel to reel? Created vinyl Masters? CD Masters? SACD Masters? Tell me about your experience as a 'true music fan'.

If you were into music like I've been, you would recognize what's been good all along, right up to the present. Yes, most bands aren't long enduring, as many have differences that split them up long before their talents for making new music end. Yes, a lot of my favorite songs are from the 60's through the 90's, but there has been really good music released in the last two years alone, along with the last 3 decades. You can't rely on radio stations as they play the same things too much. You have to dig.

What political debate? Your memory is failing you. You actually engaged with me during a Tech question. I wasn't even aware of your existence prior to that. So it's the second time you have tried to attack me without any form of prior contact from me.

That's mental illness for you.

I'm a buddhist. I'm not attached to music.

If you really liked music, you would always be listening to it, and I could recommend new music that is like the older ones you liked. Innovators have been from the past, but imitation sometimes comes with excellence, as musicians are learning earlier these days more than ever, and have a lot of material to work with.

Really? How so? i didn't even know you existed. But you were the first to respond to a post of mine here. Which one of us is exhibiting 'butt-hurt'? It's not me. To me, you are a non-entity. You'll exist only as long as this dialogue here, as I not ever seen you post anything of interest.

What I think it is...that certain Trump supporters take any criticism of the Dear Leader personally then walk around holding a grudge. Sorry mate, but I didn't even notice you, let alone suffer any hurt. The pain is all yours.

Retirement anywhere is rather a "ticking time bomb" - it always ends in death!

That's always a given.

But this is about the stuff that can happen before that.

As people age they are typically in some kind of decline.

The last thing such people need is residence insecurity.

Yes of course staying home totally solves that.

But there are many global choices for retirement expatriation.

Thailand's program offers NO such security.

It's easy to minimize what that might mean or feel like until it actually hits you.

Potential retired expats here should at the least be strongly warned about this deficiency and how incredibly serious it can become over time.

The video is one way of doing that.

There are always people on this forum who are in the stages of CONSIDERING Thailand as an option.

Such a warning is way too late for people like me!

Just as I stated in my original post to you in this thread. You are here to pollute this thread with this nonsense.

BTW Who is dear leader?

Buddhism is about detachment so no I don't do music daily or tv or movies. It is like sunsets. Watch and enjoy then let go.

I don't want to live the same year 85 times.

Have I missed your positive contribution to the thread? It appears that you are simply projecting your own nonsense.

This video suggests that it is.

I agree with the thesis though I don't necessarily agree there is bad intent in the policies.

I have been saying for decades that the problem with the Thailand retirement visa program is a complete lack of residency security.

Someone here 30 years has no more status than a new guy fresh off the plane.

To me, that doesn't seem morally right.

Yet, aware of all that, I stay, and so do countiess others who may or may not be as aware of this ticking time bomb.

One of the biggest problems with expats is they live like tourists. If you plan to live in Thailand make sure you plan the way your going to live and stick to it. My wife comes from a large family in Korat, we have a family re union every year and I pay for the food and the booze. I've never been asked for money nor would I give it. I explained this to my wife so she can pass the word on if this were to happen.

I think that adults must come to terms with the fact that the Universe as we now know it is not concerned with morals, or morality, or what is right-or-wrong.

When we are very young, and children, some of us are willing to tilt at windmills, trying to fight hopeless causes, and change the world, even though it is not the world that needs changing.

It is best to become an adult, and expend one's energy on what is practical, and stop wasting one's energy on what is fruitless.

Choosing one's battles is part of becoming an adult.

So, YES, retirement is a ticking time bomb, but this unhappy circumstance has nothing to do with Thailand.

The ticking time bomb is one of longevity, and frailty.

Thailand is still the best.

Maybe I should lease some land here, before I become too old to do so.

Get one of those knock-down hardwood houses, and just chill.....

While the rest of the world wallows in MORAL DEPRAVITY.....

Or, even worse, ANXIETY....

The "universe" isn't interested in morality, that's for sure.

But many national governments in designing their laws for retirement of foreigners actually do show good ethics or you could say morality by understanding and making accomidaations for the human condition of aging people, and offering either easy or hard paths to permanent residence status or even citizenship. Thailand offers retired expats NOTHING in that regard. As the cringe cliche says -- it is what it is.

1550 posts in 11 weeks. All childish drivel. You sure are sad.

If you noticed, millions of Thais enjoy their music, festivals, concerts, music on TV, music competitions, and there are many Thai singers who copy western music, although not too well, but their own style sounds okay. Music is but one of life's good pleasures that enriches the soul.
