Leave it to Trump to frack things up, hence the new moniker "TOFU" - Trump Only F***s Up.

The Italians have replied by posting what their national team will be wearing during the WC.😂

The DHS Secretary is obviously not a footie fan:

Before a career in politics, and assuming control of counterterrorism and immigration, Mullin, who has one of those typical redneck stupid first names, was a plumber, deep up to his arms in <deleted> clearing blockages.

A complete moron, and this will never happen.

BTW, do you know why this genius has two first names?

It's because his mum is not sure which of her brothers is the father.

Most here would blame hitting their thumb with the hammer while doing DIY on Trump. That Im afraid is the symptoms of it. Very nasty indeed. Best wishes in the healing process fellas.

Well of course, how could you not when you have a Republican Global leader consuming your every waking thought with bias and hateful rhetoric...

It's easy to get distracted - of course it's Trumps fault - no other way to see it really.

A game where players hit the ball with their heads should not be called football.

So why is that game you Americans play, throwing the ball to each other, called Football?

In Soccer, the ball is played with the FOOT more than the head, hence, you guessed it, FOOTBALL.

Here’s an explanation. Way back when any ball game that wasn’t played on horseback (which was pretty much played by wealthy folks) was played on foot. American football is a a bit of a hybrid of rugby and soccer.

That's a bit harsh but give him time.

i am not American. Australian Rules, feet and hands combined.

An elite midfielder in soccer covers about 10-12 km in a match. The same midfielder in Australian Rules does 15-20 km.

I am confused, I thought soccer also included diving.

Some are tough. Zlatan. Keane. Rooney. Cantona. Ya didnt see them rolling around.

I don't think any major sports players are pansies, do people who make these accusations know what these players go through in their pre season training. Over paid? probably yes but in saying that they were placed in the football system at a young age and have no back up career on their retirement.

Trump said the World Cup will unite the world. Mostly against America, but still.

Trump thinks VAR is unfair because it involves fact-checking.

Trump calling the World Cup a celebration of humanity is effing rich. This is a tosser of a man who hears thirty languages in one stadium and immediately reaches for border control.

Trump said the World Cup would showcase American values. So expect crippling prices, aggressive security, and a man in Florida firing a gun because Belgium scored.

America suddenly loving soccer is fake as hell. Country spent fifty years sayin’ ‘real football got helmets.’ Now every <deleted> be wearin’ scarves in July

Vance has the energy of a man who’d describe football chants as "unproductive populist discourse".

Apparently Trump told reporters he loves the Iranian team’s defence. Which is confusing, because he usually thinks Iran is something you sanction, not pass to in midfield

SAD you do not know the history of the sport itself. However are you British yes?! If so That explains it.

Americans call it "soccer" as the word was actually invented and used in England. In England, the sport’s formal name was "Association Football". To distinguish it from Rugby Football ("rugger"), British university students added the "-er" suffix, turning "assoc" into "soccer". The U.S. kept this nickname to avoid confusion with American football.

In case you haven’t noticed, us Americans make our own rules and intentionally avoid the conformity of nations to spitefully leave them in wonderment, it’s a bit of a sort for us.

American exceptionalism!

We do what we want.

We do not care what other nations think.

We even enjoy being different just to provoke.

You sure got that right. The provocation has served as an inspirational predicate for all nations as the US is the envy of the world and some are just butt hurt by it.

And, there are good reasons not to trust the American govt anymore. A bunch of war mongers, liars, cheaters and criminals.

If the USA dont win the World Cup , Donald Trump will hire lawyer Rudy Giuliani who will spend the next four years thoroughly investigating all the tournaments goals and too recount all the goals .

Giuliani will put his reputation on the line , saying he is 100 % sure the USA did really win the World cup and he will promise to prove it .

Trump will call Giuliani

"Her Rudy, you need to find me 1 more goal from the Columbia match "

"One more goal and we won 2-1"

It doesn't matter who wins. Trump will join the victory celebrations and walk off with the trophy.

FIFA is not a US organization. A good thing given its recent past.

As for soccer/football, The US kept the name the British were calling it at that time; Shock, Gasp, Horror! Now some British find that fact upsetting. Sad, but not unexpected.

Wonder how many of those with scarves will wear keffiyehs...or yarmulkes?

You could do a thread about Jews wearing yarmulkes at the World cup ?

Could add that its the most Political World cup since the Berlin Olympic in 1936 ?

I think any furriners who come to the US, even with visas, are risking their freedom. Similarly, the teams themselves.

What if they gave a FIFA anf nobody came?
