Aren't you embarrassed to live in Pattaya

You dropped cash on something you can't actually own, smack in the middle of literal nowhere. Calling it "the perfect setting" is master level coping and it sounds like your better half sold you on this dream and you’re still paying the mortgage on the delusion.

My wife.... again literally owns a 3 storey house in Bangkok that is probably worth more than this middle of nowhere shack and is actually sellable.

Work smarter

Reading comprehension. I've built 3, sold 2 houses, which paid for present house, solar, BEVs, and live rent / mortgage free, as I always have, in TH & USA. Yea, I pay for things in cash. I don't rent, or do payments with interest. And if I wanted to sell the house tomorrow, I could. Though I wouldn't, and probably give it to my daughter.

Happy for your WIFE, good for her, who owns, (not you), while you rent and send your wife to work, in your retirement.

I owned 3 house at the same time in USA, 1 was triplex, On my 3rd house here, who cares. Hopefully last one, as no desire to move again. Great place to wind down in my last years.

Obviously you don't know what semi rural means. I'm 5-10 mins away from town, which has everything I want or need. Also fronts the Gulf, and 10 minutes away, have rolling hills that border Myanmar. More than a few lakes around. One of best places to live in TH, IMHO .... shh

Same in Udon Thani when I lived there, less the 30 minutes away from one of the largest metros in TH. Best of both worlds, metro and house in middle of nature.

Far from Nakhon Nowhere.

    Nope, love living here.

I’m more curious where you live that’s so flawless. A utopia, is it? No drunks, no dodgy headlines, no locals behaving badly… just everyone sipping herbal tea and filing their taxes early?

Why do you have such a compulsion to post dispiriting content on this forum. That’s the question you should be asking.

That's right. I don't own her house. But you don't own your own house.

Speaking of comprehension, I am not the one renting, you are.

My wife works because she always did. What else is she gonna do? Argue on internet forums? I can finally do in Canada what I couldn't do in Thailand. Have my own business. Life in Thailand is boring and when life is boring the trouble finds you.

To put this one to bed...

I think that I could lay claim to be the most widely travelled person on this board. Every continent other than Antartica and most of the most desirable(and expensive) places to live...and I choose to spend time in Pattaya. That's also after living in Bangkok and also the islands.

It suits me for a myriad of reasons, none of which are the typical reasons for those who might imagine embarrassment.

It's not perfect, but where is? It also helps that I'm not stuck and am free to go wherever I like.

There reality is...wherever you go, there you are. So if you are comfortable within yourself, you can make anywhere your home. Though not too keen on the cold weather 😊

What part of pay with cash do you not understand. Live 'rent & mortgage' free, missed that also. As I stated, I can sell this house anytime I want. We're trusting and on the same page with everything. That's what 20 yr relationships builds. Wouldn't be together if we didn't trust each other.

I believe elsewhere you said your condo cost about 500 a month. You don't own, so is public assistance housing ??? don't bother, I know the answer, and why you're in CA.

Life has never been boring for me, but then again, I'm not a boring person. Thailand, Canada & USA are simply locations. Not lifestyles and don't determine one's life.

Have a nice life, and keep trying to convince yourself that you're happy. Have a nice night. Done with your pissing contest. You suck at it.

It costs 500 a month in condo fees. What place can you rent in downtown core for 500 bucks? Surely you can't be this dumb?

Actually there was a really nice 3 bedroom townhouse, surfside with perfect view of the bay. Only 15k baht / $464 USD, and if they took dogs, I'd probably be living there, instead of building a house.

Good price. I will come back and do exactly that. I am thinking Sri Racha. Sorry I came at you in a bad way, but you triggered me 😄

Yes I am aware. Thanks for the reminder. Not ideal, but I will keep it until I die. It has been paid off since my late 30s.

I also own a small one in Hamilton

I really enjoyed queen st when I lived in downtown. Take this for what it is. Id live downtown again but finding good work there has been a no for me. Dont want to go back to my old career was too stressful.

Applied for a ttc operator a month or so ago but never heard back. Where I am the selection of women is sub par at best....... would be a great time living downtown now as a single guy.

Pattaya covers a huge area, only a small percentage of it is sleazy, lived here for 12 years never a problem, I never go further south of Soi Bukhao except for a trip to Central Festival.

How can any topic discussing "aren't you embarrassed to live in Pattaya" be considered a "serious matter"?

I think it is time that you find a life away from public forums!

You live on here.

Pattaya isn't Thailand. It is a western ghetto.

And yet here you're, writing this comment from pattaya, right?

This diet doesn’t seem to promote good health. Consider making some changes for better nutrition.

This is an incredible achievement! I truly hope someone sent you a plaque to commemorate this milestone, allowing you to display it proudly on your wall for everyone to admire.

I love those who try to be pretentious and say we live in Jomtiem .... knowing it's just around the corner from Pattaya

You are absolutely mistaken; this is a significant milestone that everyone should recognize. The original poster is an elite traveler whose accomplishments deserve celebration. I urge the manager of this site to award him a special status as a tribute to his remarkable achievements in travel.

I’m curious about how the two compare. Could you please elaborate on your thoughts? Your insights would be really valuable!

So my wife was feeling nostalgic for some Texas Chicken because they used to have it in Thailand. I will be sure to pass your nutrition advice.

Jomtien has an upscale vibe, reminiscent of Monaco, making it an appealing destination for those seeking a luxurious lifestyle.

My telling was to add the context of visiting Pattaya, whilst also having lived in some of the most exclusive places around the world. Meaning that it's not the worst place to visit.

Whereas you don't seem to have a point at all, other than to brag...

Pattaya is a dirty sleazy city.

In your mind...

In reality where I live is quite nice. For someone who pretends to travel, one might expect you would have sought out the nicer parts using AI or YouTube. No sleaze where I live.
