Generation X: can't find jobs, if they find jobs they are low paying, they can't afford to put a roof over they heads, or buy a car, or pay for health insurance, or pay for utilities, and forced to make a choice between electrify and food. In the meanwhile the elite oligarch class are siphoning all the wealth of Western nations into their own pockets and peeing on the general public whom they consider to be little but insects to be crushed under-foot.

I would not want to have children in this day and age either.

Though this is just anecdotal, I have discussed bearing a child with women in a few Asian countries like Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand. These are friends, not girlfriends, so I wasn't angling for a dalliance.

So many times I heard "I don't want to go through pregnancy" and "I don't want to wreck my body".

I suspect that this is because modern life offers greater opportunity and many more interesting things to do than pop out a kid, and then be locked down to caring for it for the next 18 years.

Some---most likely men---will call that selfish, but as men our contribution to the game is sport and great fun, not something that takes control of our body for nine uncomfortable months. Plus, as has become the norm around the world, marriages have a pretty poor track record, so being a single mom is a distinct possibility, and that only if the relationship involved marriage, as often it is 'bump and run' on the part of the male.

As others have noted, social programs---most all of which are Ponzi schemes---will be impacted by declining birth rates. The implications for nations with massive debt---like the US---are scary.

One final note...tangentially related...is that in my opinion, the most boring people on this planet are new mothers, who incessantly boast of things their child is now doing, which 99.999% of all infants do: "Look! She rolled over on her own!" I guess that sort of "pride" is instinctual, though our species may well be evolving beyond that instinct.

Gen X was like born between '65 and '81.

Many are on the verge of retiring.

You mean Gen Z and Gen Alpha?

They are Tik Tokkers and YouTube vloggers.

They make good living.

Falling birth rates have become a defining political battleground across the West, with conservative leaders warning of demographic decline and urging families to have more children.

Its actually a devilish agenda to depopulate; you have to turn everything they say 360 (6-6-6) to get closer to truth.

2030 is approaching.

They gonna try ramp up this haunt a virus malarkey , then a fresh jooce shot.

End game.

Prepare accordingly.

Who is "They" ?

Of course you must have data to back up your assertions. The border was open and everybody who came was on the dole, right?

Are you forgetting when NYC Mayor Eric Adams spilled the beans and asked for $12 billion of federal help to pay for their 110,000 newcomers over a period of 3 years? That's $36K per head per annum. Of course, poor Mayor Adams fell out of favor with the Dems, when he was just looking after the citizens of NYC. That's what he was elected to do. But the Dem elite wouldn't have it.

Not all of them end up on the dole long term. About half of them, though. Look it up. You're apparently having fond memories of the virtual slave labor of migrants picking your cotton peaches on the cheap. That went the way of the old timey Dems, decades ago... Today's newcomers are ending up in hotels and public housing in the cities.

The Right Pushes for a Baby Boom

Conservative figures including JD Vance, Elon Musk, Giorgia Meloni and Viktor Orbán have framed declining birth rates as a civilisational threat.

LOL... the right are so supportive of children right up until they're born... then abandon them regarding health care and ecucation. Typical lack of long range planning. Their horizon ends at the next election.

According to World Bank estimates, the Western world, on average, hovers between 1.3 and 1.6 births per woman. Far below the 2.2 needed to prevent population from falling. African and poorer countries are up around 4.0.

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.TFRT.IN?name_desc=false

Canada, in a misguided attempt, tried to increase the population through rapid immigration 5 million in a few years - increasing its population 10% in a short time. It was misguided because critical infrastructure like doctors, hospitals, housing - already under stress - were not addressed.

I don't suppose it has anything to do with the risk weighted cost of raising a profoundly autistic kid?

When I was a kid, I didn't even know what that was. Probably because the odds were about 1 in 1500. Nowadays, in some areas of the USA, those odds are more like 1 in 25. What's 1/25 of a buttload of healthcare and special needs money? That sounds like a big risk to family finances. A lot more than the 1/1500 odds I was born into.

Maybe it's completely unrelated to overprocessed food and/or the ever expanding vaccine schedule, but I'd sure like to know what's causing it.

Thanks for that. Very few people even ponder the possibility that their kid will be born deformed, retarded, autistic, with tourettes, or a hundred other possibilities that will make their lives hell. Or grow up to be a killer, thief, scammer, huckster, or drug addict.

industrial countries like the US and even nations like Thailand desperately need immigrants to do the work that the locals have no interest in doing.

Sounds plausible but is based on nonsense.

Pay enough and have the correct incentives and people will do the work.
If you need proof cof that heck out some of the foreigners the girls of Pattaya go will with for money.

Europe and the US need more immigrants like they need a hole in the head.
They just need to rejig their ludicrous welfare incentives.

Japan ()and to some extent Thailand) has the right idea.
If you need to bring them in, don't give them any rights and make them check in with the aiuthorities regularly.

Any nonsense? Deport!

There's also a powerful lobby with blood libel.
If they wipe out the group with the highest IQ (peoples of white European heritage) and flood Europe with low quality replacements by emptying out Africa and the middle east via 'pointless' wars statrted on the basis of flimsy lies
controlling what'll be left (a base, retarded, less intelligent population) will be much easier

Don't think they care.
Unlimited immigration is pushed by power inteersts / the oligarchy to push up remts and demand for goods and push down wages.
Also helps get tid of whites, which seems to be an aim.

Remember, Africans Indians and Asians (Chines looking types) make up the vast majority of the world's population.
Whites are a tiny minority (esp. blondes and gingers etc.), yet we constantly have Diversity, Equalirty and Inclusion rammed down our throats - at our own expense, in our own home countries.

It's almost as if there's a conspiracy.

This.

People actually want to work (no one likes to sit around doing nothing, feeling expendable) - but living wages need to be paid!

The system wants you on the dole and dependent on it. They greasing the rails for UBI (universal basic income) when AI takes over.

From the Book Men without work.

Labor force participation among men aged 20+ fell from 86% in 1948 to 68% in 2015. The COVID pandemic made this worse. One of the major causes is the huge welfare. state.

Not so sure you can compare Japan and Thailand regarding foreign workers. Japan has a true shortage of young workers due to its aging population and reluctance by women to have kids. Thailand, on the other hand, has a large labour pool of available young people but because the wage is 300-400 per day, almost regardless of the job you have, the Thai will choose the easiest job to do. And if they get bored, the Thai worker will move to another job of the same pay (or often it's not by choice. There's a cycle where they work for 3 months on probabtion then are not confirmed so don't get the health benefits, insurance etc from the employer that kicks in after 3 months - it's a scam routinely played out by employers). So that leaves the harder and hotter work to migrants - construction, fishing boats, domestic work, cleaners, collecting shopping carts at supermarket parking lots, and other 'outside' work.

Many say AI is the answer but I think it's going to move mankind backwards dramatically. Falling GDP is really not a big deal as it's a very overrated metric. AI will end up eliminating a lot of jobs anyway, so we would likely end up with very significant unemployment. In reality the last thing in the world this planet needs is more babies at this time.

Not to mention barely any fish left in the seas, denuded forests, and countless other environmental issues caused by 8 billion people on the planet without much sensitivity to nature, and truly ridiculous climate deniers like Donald Trump, who is amongst a huge group of ignoramus fools who have likely never even been to a national park, and dislike nature and all of its glories.

Agree with you here. But a declining population worldwide means we will have to accept that continuous growth is not possible. Accepting that would also be a blessing for the planet.

Agree with you here. But a declining population worldwide means we will have to accept that continuous growth is not possible. Accepting that would also be a blessing for the planet.

That sounds all ginger peachy keen. Until you look at which countries are popping out babies like there's no tomorrow. It's the poorest, least educated.

The technologically advanced and educated countries are seeing the decline in birthrate. The ones that can actually design our way out of problems. Africa? They can't even maintain what the colonials left them. And they're growing like weeds. Way exceeding the carrying capacity of their home countries. (While kicking out the talent that could help them)

Then you throw in today's globalist suicidal empathy that shames us into thinking that we should let them into our cities and onto our welfare rolls.
